He should have 5 losses on his record. Mayweather (9-3) GGG 1 (9-3) GGG 2 (8-4) Bivol (11-1) Crawford (8-4) The Lara fight was a close fight. Many people had it around 4-4 after 8 rounds and Lara didn't put in a lot of effort in the championship rounds. I thought that fight was a draw when I watched it. A case can be made for Lara 7-5, but it was close.
I saw him lose 8-4 to Golovkin twice. Outworked, outlanded, beaten on the front foot and beaten on the back foot.
There is really no question he lost the first Golovkin fight. Lara clearly ran and survived so I wouldn't have given it to him myself. The second Golovkin fight was one where it's close enough you can't make an open and shut case for robbery, even though Golovkin probably won. I'm annoyed Golovkin just tried to box him in the second and third as it played into Canelo's hands. Sanchez was right telling him to fight Canelo in the corner work during that fight. The fact Golovkin came out in the third and did the same thing is just ridiculous. Basically I wouldn't ever really argue too much about the close ones. The one to hammer home is the first Golovkin fight, as that was very obvious and probably the most annoying result of recent times because people go around pretending Canelo handled Golovkin when in fact he was comfortably beaten by a mid-thirties Golovkin the first time.
He lost 7 in my opinion. He would still be in the PFP discussion because he beat alot of good fighters, and the fights he lost were very competitive.
I dug up my old scorecards... might need to rewatch them, just to see if they shift at all. Just goes to show that often judges are the difference between a tremendous record and a merely 'ok' one. Imagine if Norton had 3 wins over Ali or if Walcott had gotten the nod vs Louis which he should have.
