Ricky Hatton vs Ruslan Provodnikov 140lbs primes

This is a tough one for me. I don't trust Hatton's ability to take Ruslan's punch but I don't trust Ruslan's ability to get to Hatton consistently

Bradley was successful inside against Provodnikov when he got inside Ruslan's range and nullified his power. Hatton could probably clinch and rough house and body punch his way to victory. That said he could also get nailed and be stopped. Provodnikov did let guys off the hook when he had them all but finished.

Slight edge to Hatton

 

I think a prime Hatton edges this one in a war. Ruslan was an extremely game, entertaining fighter for as long as his body stood up to that style. Hatton certainly had more refined skills if he could cool down Ruslan's pace to utilize them. Otherwise, a fire fight would make this a pick-em. As is, I think Ricky would control enough of the rounds, and keep his whiskers safe, to get a narrow decision a la Matthysse.
