No thats one of 3 reasons. Not only was he 37 but he retired for multiple years, didn't beat any top 10 LHWs in his comeback and looked lethargic and inactive against a fighter who doesn't punch as hard as Beterbiev. You claim Gvozdyk was in the best shape of his career. What nonsense

The top 2 fighters in the world can compete at 37 therefor every 37 year old boxer can't be shot is that your argument ? It's stupid. Everyone ages different, the top 2 boxers never retired for 3-4 years after taking a brutal loss and they've been pfp top 5 even before the age of 35, them being amongst the most elite in the world isn't indicative of every other athletes performance at such an age. I can list several examples of fighters who are past their prime or shot by 37

Joe Smith Jr has a better resume than anyone Benavidez has beaten besides an old comeback Gvozdyk. Bivol clears Benavidez resume by a longshot. Callum Smith has a better resume than Andrade

Yes Gvozdyk was so lethargic he threw more punches than his 28 year old opponent. Joe Smith jr has a better resume than anyone benavidez beat besides gvozdyk? Bye troll.

Benavidez is one of my favourite current fighters but Boo Boo whilst talented was a career 154 and 160 who had only fought at 168 once vs a E level, had never beaten any world champions, and was facing a massive 168 pounder in Benavidez

Lemieux was a washed career 154/160 pounder

Plant is a a soft chinned PBC hype job who fought binmen and whose claim to fame is being the last man Clenelo knocked out

Gvozdyk was nowhere near the fighter he was pre-retirement. He looked like an imposter doing an impersonation of him. The fire was no longer there anymore and that was plain to see

Morrell is talented and in his prime but, like Benavidez, once he moved up to LHW and started facing opponents his size the KOs dried up and he arguably lost to Hot Rod who to be fair is a good fighter and even if you had him winning the fight it was much closer than the corrupt judges had it.

And he did lose in most people's eyes to Khataev but the corrupt judges struck again

This is not to say I don't believe Benavidez is a very good and talented fighter because I do and I think he will beat the crap out of Yarde and despite being taken the distance in both his fights at 175 will stop him and I think he could potentially beat this 40-41 y/o version of Beterbiev and maybe even Bivol both of whom he is a lot bigger than despite only having 2 fights at LHW since his official move up to the weight or he certainly stands the best chance out of anyone outside of those 2 beating them

Neither should ever agree to fight him in the US though as it's hardly a secret that their corrupt judges will rob a deep Soviet brother damn near everytime

Also, Benavidez's PBC smoke and mirrors resume is far from his fault as Clenelo ducked him like crazy

    In short

Benavidez is a damned good fighter but a weight bully and he has a PBC resume

Benavidez was nearly defeated by a gigantic chimichanga in 2019, but thanks to some assistance from a couple of Coronas managed to prevail after all. And still ... !

Demetrius Andrade was a very, very good win.

The Morrell fight was much closer than people let on as was the Gvozdyk fight (which I think would've been much different pre-semi-retirement). Plant was a good name that's about it. Andrade was a really good win.

He only made 168 because of the coke habit.

"Benavidez beat 1 or 2 ranked light heavyweights at best. Beterbiev beat at least 5."

Benavidez has 2 fights at 175. Of course he only beat 2 ranked LHWs. Hes on his third fight.

Benavidez is a ****ing monster as much as I love Beterbiev, I would be surprised if Benavidez didn't beat him in a future match up. Having said that Yarde is a banana skin.

He can only beat those willing to fight him.

The highlight reel KO of Porky probably cost him a lotta $$$$. No one wanted any part of that.
