As in, never beat "the man" in a single division.

    Thoughts?

Davis, to become world titlist, has defeated the following opponents:
    • José Pedraza for the IBF 130lbs - probably nobody considered Pedraza the number one super feather
    • Jesús Cuellar for the WBA super 130lbs - again, nobody considered Cuellar the number one super feather
    • Yuriorkis Gamboa for the WBA regular 135lbs - nobody considered Gamboa the number one lightweight
    • Léo Santa Cruz to upgrade to WBA super 135lbs - nobody considered LSC the number one lightweight
    • Mario Barrios for the WBA regular 140lbs - nobody considered Barrios the number one super lightweight

Were any of them consensus top 5 in their weight class when they fought Davis? Certainly none were lineal champs.

A broken clock is right twice a day.

As much as I dislike Kellerman for being a spineless shil, he is in fact broken clock correct here.

Nobody even considered Cuellar a 130 pounder, let alone the #1 130 pounder, because he wasn't. He was a 126 pounder who had been campaigning at 126 and yet somehow he was paired up vs Twink for the vacant 130 belt despite that and him coming off a loss and a 16 month layoff

Even worse they downgraded the real champ in order to make Twink the 'real' champ and this was the fight after Twink had lost his IBF title on the scales

'On March 5, 2018 the fight was finalized for the vacant WBA (Regular) super featherweight title. And for the fight Cuellar had to move up from featherweight to super featherweight. Prior to the fight, Alberto Machado, the WBA (Super) champion at the same weight class, was inexplicably downgraded to 'Regular' champion, and the Davis-Cuellar fight was upgraded to be for Machado's WBA (Super) super featherweight title

Yes and no. Were these fighters elite? No, not really. Now is Max saying all of these, because he is affiliated with the Ring Magazine? Yes he is. The only reason why Davis is being targeted is because he didn't bend the knee for Turki.

I mean yes there's probably some partisan agenda here with Max definitely being a Turki shill lately - but, on the other hand, Davis has an incredibly skimpy track record of collecting belts without ever defeating a single top 5 player in any division (let alone "the man").

Further, if you don't count WBA regular titles - which many don't - he becomes a mere 3x champ in two divisions, rather than 5x in three.

I was thinking the same thing. Good post.
I think it is just common sense even Tank fans know that his career is a joke they just lie to themselves.

Say what you will about Max and his ulterior motives, but Tank's attitude lately of being above reproach for the Jake Paul fiasco, and saying "boxing fell off" and that he may as well retire because he doesn't have anything left to prove - it's really all just a heap of hogwash. Davis has conquered & cleaned out zero divisions. He's been a titlist fives times in three - and if you exclude WBA regular, only thrice in two.

How does that gronk still have fans?

Would have thought the multiple felonies and woman beating, on top of his "draw" would have driven the last hold outs away.

I dont think Davis is given enough credit for how dumb he is. He is remarkably stupid.

Why is a spineless shill? Serious question, I don’t follow any of these guys.

I felt he was a good addition to the HBO crew back in the day.
