Apparently that was more competitive than it looked at the very end...the Brits on commentary are lauding the visitor from Tanzania for his gutsy efforts and even said they'd like to see a rematch.

 

Cheerav Ismailovich Ashalaev vs. Sajjad Mohammad Mehrabi, 6 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

Oops... during the ring intros the jumbotron showed a graphic that was probably meant for later, with Cheerav Ashalaev's name and face and the phrase "WINNER".

Granted that is a fair assumption, with the accomplished Russian amateur making his pro debut versus a 39 year old Iranian with a 6-5-2 record, but uh...

In the words of Paul Heyman, "that's not a prediction...that's a spoiler!"

Ashalaev with a good punch variety to head and body, and responsibly defending while attacking with his arms windshield-wiping over his face & vitals. Mehrabi showing toughness weathering the storm and getting in a few stiff jabs here and there.

Mehrabi called a "well experienced veteran" by the Brit commentators, but uh...despite making his pro debut eleven years ago he only has 13 bouts, with several multiple-year breaks from the sport. (the longest being from 2016 until 2020)

Ashalaev is a very sharp looking switch hitting prospect. It's been all Mehrabi can do to hang in and survive - has looked absolutely knackered for a few rounds but is chugging his way through in the second half.
