Andrey Ibrahim Alimerzaev Efimov vs. Kamariddin Mukhamadievich Khasanov, 4 rounds @ middleweight (KARATE)

 

Andrey "Wushu Master" Efimov has the blonde buzzcut and white trunks with red & gold trim. He was adopted and raised in the city of Tver (northwest of Moscow) but later found out he was a born Chechen, leading to Ramzan Kadyrov funding efforts to find his biological family and "claim" the fighter. He is experienced in bare knuckle and MMA in addition to full contact karate.

Kamariddin "Kamil Karate" Khasanov is the southpaw in black trunks (also with red & gold trim) with the black mohawk. He is from Tajikistan and practices Shotokan karate, and is 10x national Tajik champion in that martial art. He also competes in MMA in the lightweight division.

 

If you didn't specifically tell me this was karate, I'd think it was just a couple of boxers (or mixed martial artists doing stand-up, although there have barely been any knees, elbows or kicks)

 

Khasanov just got folded and KTFO by a series of hard left hooks with Efimov bashing him into a corner after setting up with a nice diving spearing straight right on the belly.

A very un-karate-like finish.

 

Efimov may have the unsavory Kadyrov for a patron, but Khasanov gets the cringe award for the day... he grabs the mic during his opponent's victory interview repeatedly yelling "Salam alaikum", then going on some lengthy rant ...and he's wearing a t-shirt printed with a photograph of Vladimir Putin shaking hands with some old fat guy.

 

And now a dancing bear.

Really, a guy in a bear costume (with a giant red t-shirt over it) twirling around grooving to some Slavic hip-hop with the ring card girls.

Good times.

 

The bear's name is Rolf.

 

Rolf is now gone, along with all his backup dancers.

The ring is empty.

Commentators are silent. Nothing's happening.

 

Bakhodir Isomiddin Ugli Jalolov vs. Vitaly Viktorovich Kudukhov, 8 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Round 1

Jalolov is casually tossing right jabs off his lead hip and stepping wide around Kudukhov. The opening minute is a light spar with Kudukhov just plodding around the ring after Jalolov getting jabbed in the dome. Now a left uppercut coming in behind the jab from Jalolov on the outside, nearly splitting Kudukhov's guard from beneath. Kudukhov struggling with the height, reach, and movement of the 2x Olympic gold medalist. Whenever he rushes in Kudukhov winds up entangled in a clinch before he can get any shots off.

10-9 Jalolov, light work

 

It's like watching a super heavyweight with A- skills taking on a teak-tough but C+ level cruiserweight.

Actually, no, it isn't "like" that - it is that, really.

(although Kudukhov has always campaigned north of 200lbs, but carrying a bit of extra padding)

 

30-27 Jalolov, but Kudukhov is getting closer with his chin-down ramming pressure, getting in a few body swipes.

Commentators say he's "losing the rounds but winning the fight".

 

Kudukhov flirting with a DQ there... Jalolov turned his back on him exiting a clinch and Kudukhov got up on his toes lunging for Jalolov with a head shot from behind. Stern finger wag from the ref, honestly wouldn't have been wrong to dock a point there.

Jalolov is looking gassed at the halfway mark...

 

Oh damn! Jalolov went to a knee from a 1-2, and Kudukhov got in an extra shot while he was down! Nets him a deduction from the ref. Kudukhov swarming and Jalolov lobbing out weak right jabs and tying up. Ref warns Jalolov for holding. Jalolov mouth-breathing. Kudukhov roughing Jalolov up in the clinch, yanking him down by the nape and putting him in headlocks until the break if forced. Ref warns Jalolov for lowering his own head below the crotch of Kudukhov. Jalolov saved by the bell.

9-8 Kudukhov (10-8 minus a point)

 

You guys, get in - Jalolov is getting exposed!
