When they fought in 1953, Johnson won a SD. But Charles was arguably post prime by then. So say Johnson fights the Charles of 1948-50. How does it end?
Charles on point probably, he’d apply educated pressure shine the jab and force the exchanges and winning in the exchanges with his lightening fast, short range and mid range punches, punching off of Johnson’s jab and rolling the dice, not showing too much respect, but not falling off balance and getting countered. Charles shortens them up a lot better and is more natural in that range, and he’d be able to take more risks because he can take what Johnson has to give. I actually don’t think Charles can outbox Johnson, Johnson is a master boxer with perfect fundamentals and jab, more well schooled at that range, not saying Charles is bad, he’s very good himself, but Johnson is one of the greatest in terms of boxing on the outside, he’s almost impossible to beat jab for jab and at range in general. But, like I said, I see Charles being able to take measured risks, force the exchanges and win the exchanges and be able to overwhelm Johnson in a sense with speed, size and power and land the better punches and win on points or maybe a stoppage at some point.
