What's the reason for picking Bowe? I mean of course you could argue he beats Lewis that's a opinion which could shape a view there but in the end that fight didn't happen but Lewis was more proven against different styles and types of opponents and he also achieved more.
Technical skills : Bowe, he could throw every punch in the book. Defence : Lewis, way less hittable. Power : about the same. Heart : Bowe, not saying Lewis didn't have heart but the Golota rematch showed how much Bowe had it.
Lennox doesn't even have a better win than Bowe's two wins against prime Holyfield. You've compared Jalolov to the likes of Klitschko in this forum.
Lewis's resume is far deeper. It's not close. Bowe just has the single better win. Lewis never fought prime Holyfield because he was just an upcoming contender back then. Lewis is the better fighter. With Steward he'd have found a way Lewis is winning the polls but most here are arguing for Bowe. It doesn't make sense
I like both fighters but no way can I put Bowe over Lewis. Lennox just actually proved himself, where as Bowe had a great win over Holyfield then never topped that imo.
A resume doesn't matter in a direct fight. Spinks's biggest success before Ali was a draw with Scott Ledoux, and that's a bit weaker than beating Foreman or Frazier. Did McCall have a better resume before knocking out Lewis? Did Tarver have a better resume when he fought RJJ? Maybe Walcott did when he fought Louis? Who else did Bowe have to beat convincingly? Mavrovic? He fought a trilogy with Holyfield, more than anyone did in the 1990s. He could have beaten opponents like Ferguson, Gonzales, Biggs, Hide, the same as Mavrovic, Rahman, and Botha 100 more times. It doesn't matter in their direct fights. Bowe fought a 30-year-old, fresh Holyfield, not a 37-year-old, battered one who was beaten by John Ruiz. He had to win by one point. Prime is prime - Bowe definitely. CV vs CV - Lewis who fought longer, managed his career better, didn't end up in a mental institution and was generally a much nicer guy.
I really like Riddick. He could have been great, but for various reasons that didn’t happen. He had tremendous heart, and was a fun fighter to watch. His defence was deplorable. Lennox is better. I would expect the best version of Lewis to beat the best version of Bowe 9 times out of 10 and likely by stoppage. I am sure there are differing opinions but to me this is not even close You have to go with who the fighter actually was versus who they could have been.
Bowe has 2 great/very good wins on his resume against the same guy who always was up and down in his career. Lewis also beat Holyfield twice and has way more very good/good wins. Bowe couldn't carry Lewis jockstrap. He could have fight him but he threw the belt in the trashcan.
Riddick Bowe throwing the belt in the bin was an iconic own goal. Also have to point out that they actually signed to fight in 1994, but Lennox got knocked out by McCall.
Bowe got his ass beat by Golota who Lewis destroyed in a round. Lewis had a far easier time against Biggs. Lewis wouldnt need a tight decision over Tubbs. Lewis destroyed Rahman after losing the first fight and would've done the same to a healthy McCall in their rematch. Bowe is less versatile and already lost to Lewis in the Olympics. Both at their best Lewis beats him
