October eleventh, Wells Fargo Arena in Philly.

Ennis moves up to junior middleweight after relinquishing his welterweight titles (IBF/WBA/Ring Magazine). Angolan-Portuguese southpaw Lima is the current IBO champion at 154lbs (his first successful defense was in May).

Ennis comes in 34-0 (30). Lima is 14-1 (10), his one loss coming against undefeated Aaron McKenna of Ireland.

This is Ennis' tuneup for a 2026 bout with Vergil Ortíz.

With this thread popping up around the same time as the Miller vs Hunter thread, I misread this as Jared Anderson and I was thinking "wth" they both just changed to easier opponents???

But yeah should be a clear Ennis victory here.

This is a pretty good fight. Lima has been on a row, so this is a tough opponent for Ennis in his first fight at the weight. Not only that, but he could win the coveted IBO belt!

I'm torn - as the biggest Ortíz fan out there, I really want him to get the chance to rip Ennis apart ...but on the other hand Lima upsetting the apple cart here would be absolutely hilarious. :sisi1

It's certainly not out of the question, especially after the horrible recent outing Ennis had against Chukhadzhian. Lima is no joke, while sure Liam Smith is past his sell by date, the way McKenna dominated him was quite impressive. His match was Lima was a back and forth affair that was far closer than the scorecards reflect, closer to 6-4 than 8-2, and even the rounds he lost he was very competitive in. He's coming off of a series of solid wins, taking the 0's of Matevosyan, Bhatti and Koopman, who aren't bad, in a row. This is a very tough test for Ennis' debut at 154. Sure, he's coming off of a win over Stanionis, but Stanionis was the definition of rusty, an even his last showing against Maestre was incredibly lackluster and should've been a draw. So who knows how much Stanionis has left.

Fight is this weekend. Does Boots put on a showcase performance or could Lima give Boots a harder than expected fight? If Boots ends up victorious I seriously hope they can finally put together the Ortiz fight that the fans have been asking for years.

I had never heard of Lima before this was announced, but @CST80 and some others have suggested that he's no pushover.
