Same here but I'm convinced that once Louis adjusts to the initial shock of speed and power combo, he punches with Roy, deffo rips him to the body and the ending will be nasty. My thing is - what value does putting one of the greatest H2H fighters from 160 - 175 lbs against a primed version of the greatest HW puncher provide?
I agree Louis gets RJJ out of there at some point but I don't necessarily agree with some of the posts here that RJJ would get destroyed or that the fight would only go a few rounds. I think RJJ would some success with his athleticism/speed. And I think Louis could possibly be behind on points until he catches RJJ somewhere between 8-10. So all in all agreed Louis definitely stops RJJ at some point but I think its a more competitive fight than some would believe.
Do you people hate RJJ? Do you want to see him killed? Do you want to see him on the canvas convulsing and choking on his own blood? Prime Joe Louis didn't just beat people, he messed them up. He would mess RJJ up. I swear, some of you RJJ fans are getting as bad as Marciano fans as far as thinking he could take out Godzilla ...
Nobody does, or should, give a flying **** about what redditors think. Please don't link that garbage here.
My bad, I just think it's an interesting conversation to read they're polarized when it's seen as a complete mismatch here
As great as John Ruiz is, a fellow boxing Mt. Rushmore bust to Louis, styles do make fights. And I see Louis, with his crisp, accurate combos and top end power transferred in the most efficient package possible, squeaking out a decision on the cards. If you counted them after Jones is KTFO in the 5th.
The problem for Jones, not just here but against any Heavy, is that he could be legitimately sparked by one shot. There's simply no way Jones could go the distance without taking a flush power shot at least once.
Louis. Jones did well against heavies that he could outspeed and outslick. Louis was pretty fast himself and had good timing. His chin was kinda average but it was a mile better than Jones'. Louis was also a much bigger puncher and combination puncher. I have no doubt that Jones would make himself a major nuisance for a while, but Louis would eventually connect and Jones would be splattered on the canvas like some dying bug. Louis makes guys like Tarver look 'meh' in terms of firepower. There's a reason Jones said 'hell no' when the prospect of fighting Sanders came up.
To be fair, Louis had issues with Billy Conn. If he and Conn never fought, posters would believe Conn gets immediately sparked by Louis. RJJ was bigger and better than Conn and hit harder. So while I think Louis blasts out RJJ eventually, it would be competitive for a while.
