Whitaker had some success at 147 but Forrest is a different kind of fighter that can pose a big problem for him. How do you see Whitaker handling the height, reach, power, and skills of the Viper? Does Forrest have a good shot in giving Whitaker a very tough match and perhaps beating him via decision?
Call me crazy but I might favour Forrest here. I'm a big Whitaker fan as you can see from my picture in my profile. But I think Whitaker would have alot of issues with Forrest's height/reach. It might just be a bit too much of height/reach disadvantage for Whitaker to overcome.
Great hypothetical matchup, if you put the versions of Sweet Pea from the Chavez and DLH fights vs Forrest from the Shane fights I'd say it's 50/50. If I'm betting I'm taking Whitaker by decision.
Whitaker was robbed against Chavez and at Lightweight against Ramirez. \ They made up for that by giving him the fights with Rivera. Forrest can beat him at 147.
I can't believe this poster is still spinning this narrative after all these years. Chavez/Ramirez are widely considered robberies. The 1st fight vs Rivera was a close fight that could've gone either way. The 2nd fight vs Rivera was a clear Whitaker win with no controversy. So why does this poster keep spinning this narrative that Whitaker was gifted the 2nd Rivera fight when this is a flat out lie ? They didn't "gift" Whitaker the Rivera fights to make up for the two robberies vs Chavez/Ramirez that's absolute rubbish.
Forrest Whitaker? I think he's way too big for either of these guys and knocks them both out within two rounds. Okay, dumb jokes aside, I see Whitaker taking this one. While Forrest has great physical attributes and was a good boxer, I don't think his accuracy and timing was good enough to be able to catch Pernell consistently.
