Allen actually got himself into position pretty much every round after the first three or four — he just never let his hands go when the openings were there. Aside from that burst at the end of the ninth when he had Makhmudov a bit shaky, he didn’t take the risk. I think deep down he feared getting sparked himself, so he hesitated instead of rolling the dice.

I have never heard people speaking so positively about losing a fight.

    He had a following.

Now people are getting sick of the old man becoming a minor celeb and Fisher's no longet the plucky unbeaten newcomer, who cares?

That said if Allen can pull in the thick end of 10,000, Fisher's "following" isn't so great!

Quite surprised at the reaction on here.

Daves never going to be a world champion. Hes a tough fella who,s pretty limited in the grand scheme of things. Surely everyone knew that going in. Personally thought he fought pretty well tonight just outgunned by the bigger better guy.

Pretty silly fight to take imo. Daves had a hard career with the sparring etc. The last thing he needed was a 6 foot 6 monster reigning punches on him. Every time hearn gets involved with allen he always allows him in with guys dave shouldnt really be in with.

He can beat decent fighters.....but it has to be the right level of decent fighter instead of chucking him in with a 6 foot 6 fella with heavy hands like that who,s around world level. Daves never been world level.

Anthony Joshua out of the ring for 13 months and turns 36 years next week - this won't end well against any live opponent.

There is no point making a comeback fighting this level of garbage seen tonight as he cannot need the money.

Cannot believe Bellew is talking about him like a 21 year old Mike Tyson.

Once the hunger has gone, hang them up and be happy with a good career.

Got to say I enjoyed the card tonight and hopefully we get regular weekly UK cards now generating this level of interest.

Big John’s out here proving why they keep him stuffed with Chinese takeout—hands and mouth free, he’s a straight-up liability! Bosh.

Looking back with perfect hindsight, 11/10 against Makhmudov was the biggest put your mortgage on it bet since Thompson was something like 4/1 to stop Price second time round.

I steamed into that based on Allen being shyte but I was always worried from round 7 onwards that Mak would fall apart due to his poor stamina.

Was just waiting on a 'flurry of punches' with the Matchroom Ref jumping in like Froch v Groves 1.

Corner advice from Jamie Moore was terrible IMO. Nothing technical, just kept saying ‘he’ll be tired soon’ and that was seemingly the whole game plan.

If they want to make AJ look like a world beater again put him in with this guy.
Hes tailor made for AJ even this version of him ices Mak in 3 rounds.
