Only if it ends with B-Hop knocking him out. Tito can dance his way through the credits

Hollywood doesn't make movies that end with the hero decisively being defeated.

The version of "Requiem for a Heavyweight" with Anthony Quinn is still my all-time favorite boxing movie. It was mentioned earlier and should be emphasized that the film really wasn't about "boxing" per se but more of a character study about a fighter's post career crisis.

Quinn's performance is fabulous, and both Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney are fantastic as well in the supporting roles. You really appreciate the talent Gleason had when you watch him play dramatic parts-he was a LOT more than "Ralph Kramden."

Side note: Perhaps my all-time favorite Jackie Gleason moment in film was in "The Hustler" as Minnesota Fats. In the first match against Eddie Felson (played brilliantly by Paul Newman) when Felson breaks and plays a safety barely grazing the rack Fats calls out "6 in the corner." BAM, Fats busts the rack and drops the 6 in the corner pocket. No dubbing, no special effects, he just did it RIGHT then and there.

Gleason really was a larger then life charismatic performer--no one quite like him!!

There are probably a lot of boxers who’d have a more interesting film based on them.
‘Ali’ was dull I thought, and ‘Hands of stone’ the parts I’ve seen anyway were bad. Raging bull was good and Cinderella man was ok
