Would Tarver, Bivol, Beterbiev, and Roy Jones be top 10 heavyweights during Joe Louis's era

    If they were given a time machine and fought in the heavyweight division where would they rank. They weighed over 180 on fight night in their prime they would be heavyweights in terms of size

    Two answers to this question

    A)No if we list everyone in the era.

    B)Yes if we consider circumstances. Top fighters were retiring early, going to war and Rings rankings were erratic. They all would have been in the top 10 at some point. They are all better than Lee Savold who made the top 5. I argue Lee Savold was not top 20 in his era but he still got into the top 5. He wasn't the 5th best HW when he had that rating but he had it.

    Yes, they’d each have their moments as no. 1 contenders but they’d also each get battered by Joe.

    Yes. Especially RJJ. RJJ as we know him would certainly be the light heavyweight champion and would likely do what other top light heavies of the day did and that is, set their sights on the heavyweight championship. Instead of Conn vs Louis, the public would be demanding Jones vs Louis.
