Marciano called him the best puncher he ever faced, Walcott bowed both Louis and Marciano to the canvas, Charles was a very durable fighter and in there 3rd bout… I just think even if he is “losing” it’d be a long game to a sneaky “bomb” and FP won’t get up the way a terrier like Marciano, Louis or Charles would.
Timing, timing, timing Walcott was very seasoned and who he fought (the best of them) were all smarter boxers than FP, I’d also say Louis is an extremely fast puncher himself no? Floyd would need to get to JJW to beat him, what JJW did to Marciano on the way in was not nice and not something FP could endure.
No Louis isn't comparable Floyd with speed. Like I said I pick Jersey, but Im not going to defend my position too strongly.
I’ll say as the shorter puncher Louis could hit you faster than Floyd mid - close range for my 0.2$. I don’t think he was especially slow and I’d definitely call him fast but yes Floyd was quicker but much, much smaller so it makes sense.
A fascinating matchup!! Hard to choose-but I have to go with Jersey Joe in this one. I think Walcott would slowly wear Floyd down and stop him in 11-12 rounds. Walcott's not given enough credit for his punching power-he could drop you to the canvas with a "sneaky" counterpunch at any time. I see that exact scenario happening in this hypothetical bout.
