Benitez - Leonard. The greatest (sic) staredown of all time. Leonard fights him "flat footed" and wins by TKO. Benitez, ever the gracious loser, raises Leonard's hand, as he did after he woke up from his pummeling from Mathew Hilton. It was a great card, i saw it live on TV with some friends. I am pretty sure four bouts. For sure was Antefuermo - Hagler 1, and I seem to recall Sweet Pea, the rest is a blank. Probably it will come back to me.

Another great technical fight I watched on the big screen in a bar was Mosely - de la Hoya. de la Hoya was on form it looked to me, but Mosely was clearly better. Quick fight, his punches were fast as greased lightning.

Leonard vs Benitez. The boxing match that pulled
me from my original martial art, Isshin ryu Karate.
I consider it the greatest technical fight between
two ATG'S in history , and they both were prime,
    or very close to it.

Off the top of my head this is probably the best technical fight I've ever seen. Skill level was through the roof

I imagine the bouts between the Murderers Row guys would be / look similar.

Would it be fair to say that Leonard vs Hearns was chess match/technical fight to a point if not for the whole fight?

Ray ultimately played bull to Tommy’s matador in what was a role reversal somewhat.

But even in playing the bull, Ray still exhibited high end boxing IQ and technical proficiencies.

As usual, people jump right in, without bothering to read the original post. And everyone gives this guy the credit. What a waste of time a lot of these boxing threads are. The action is a lot better in the off-topic forum.

    gnight.

Yessir Pugguy, except it is not clear what you mean by Ray playing the bull to Tommy's Matador. That was Ray on the hunt. He can run, but he can't hide In the writeup I read, Hearn's manager (Tommy Emmanuel ??) was admonishing Hearns "If you don't fight, I am going to stop it". That fight "pulled me from my original..." fanboyism, and irrational hatred of Leonard, and made me aware of how the desire to see an ATG taken down can warp people's objectivity.

I said "witness", Flash. I'm guessing 24 is your age. LOL
