    Oh please. :rolleyes::hang

Waiting with bated breath to read your laundry list of amazing boxing trainers who were intellectuals, impeccably skilled champions in their own right, or BOTH, who created a bunch of great champions themselves.

Because THERE NEVER HAS BEEN ONE.

    Angelo Dundee - No
    Kevin Rooney - No
    Teddy Atlas - No
    Ray Arcel - No
    The Petronelli Brothers - No
    Joe Goosen - No
    Eddie Futch - No
    Freddie Roach - No
    Cus D'Amato - No
    Gil Clancy - No
    Yank Durham - No
    Abel Sanchez - No
    Ronnie Shields - No
    Emanuel Steward - No
    Nacho Beristain - No
    Richie Giachetti - No

Deontay Wilder was a National Golden Gloves Champion, a US Amateur Champion, an Olympic medalist, was a pro for 17 years, a WBC heavyweight champion for five years, made double-digit successful title defenses, made tens of millions of dollars, engaged in a Fight of Year winner, was always in amazing condition, had no quit, a great heart, didn't lose a decision until he was 38 years old, and is a veteran of nearly 50 pro fights.

Hell, there are great trainers who never accomplished anything as amateurs or pros who don't even speak the same language as their fighters.

    Enough already.

Bubbles , i remember you as a good poster but this post here is a fail .

Its not very bright to call Deontay wilder not bright .
He is obviously bright enough to be a world title holder for many years , defend this title 10 times and bright enough to earn dozens of millions of dollars with it .

How bright are you ? Do you make more in your life ?

As much chance of Wilder being a good astrophysicist as a good coach.

Because we all know you have to be an astrophysicist to teach someone to fight. Christ.

Wilder was one of the top heavyweights of his era. If you were one of the top astrophysicists of your era, I'm sure people would be happy for you to teach astrophysics.

I'm sure you'd have something to offer that others with no experience as an astrophysicist could.

Have the posters on this site gotten that dim?

Look , Wilder couldn’t get motivated to learn boxing when he was making millions. Trainers work long hours and gets a small percentage of what boxers make. What makes people think he will put in the time and dedication it takes to learn the sweet art now? The time and dedication it takes to train someone? Looking at fight tape to come up with a game plan? Making sure fighter is making weight?

Working the mitts with someone every now and then is about as far as he goes in becoming a trainer.

He's an exceptional athlete - a good enough one to manufacture into the great American hope...

But let's get real here, he's not an intelligent man in any important sense - if he was, he'd have retired by now.

His managers were obviously very bright - they knew what they had (and, just as importantly, what they didn't) and they made him his money.
