I’m not more a fan of Leonard than the average guy but him being stopped by Camacho of all people is one of the most unseemly things I have ever seen. That was truly sad.
He is a boxing legend and a great one but when people say he hit like Tyson... Hmnnn...well......He was a very hard hitter but I dont know if I would qualify in the Tyson-Shavers-Foreman league. Then again, he was fighting a lot of White men during that not so glorious era, sometimes in the South so I dont know. But the numbers basically put him in the second tier of power punching greats.
Me too! Thats part of the reason I wanted to get into Hollywood after I realized I did not want to be a boxer anymore. Hollywood, at least back then, sometimes taught people to walk in other's shoes. Movies like Stand and Deliver, The Breakfast Club and Cry Freedom. And that reasoning, that I wanted to be in projects like that, made me think: "we need to walk in another's shoes". The other reason? i wanted to be a huge teen idol like Molly and the Coreys lol!!
True, but Leonard was shot and Camacho was not Ivan Calderon either, power-wise..he won around 50 percent of his wins by ko or tko...
