Holmes getting on a bit himself. This fight would be very different from the Holmes fight. Spinks would be under constant pressure .Spinks was an excellent fighter would be an interesting evening
Did Marciano fight any young prime notable Heavyweights ? Aren't all his most notable wins against fighters objectively past their prime ? Or at the end of their careers ? And it's not like Marciano would fare much better vs a prime Tyson he would be bombed out early aswell.
With you 100% on this--VERY tough call--it literally could go either way! If you put a gun to my head and force me to choose I think the Rock lands a late championship round "Suzy-Q" and stops Spinks similar to the first Walcott fight.
In 1985 when Michael Spinks beat Larry Holmes he was 29 years of age, 6’2”, 199 lbs. His record was 28-0-0-19, a two division champion and former Olympic gold medalist. He had never been floored in a fight and was a proven 15 round fighter. By this point he was 5-0 against hall of fame opposition. His awkward style had given every man he ever fought problems. I’m not certain who wins but I don’t think Spinks goes down in 91 seconds like he did against Tyson. Not only were Tyson and Marciano two different fighters but circumstances were very different in 1988 than they were in 1985
