I'm glad a random forum poster has determined, without doubt, how "mentally on point" a 60 fight pro who is in tremendous shape was. Don't worry everyone, he read a gossip column in a magazine and has now determined that Vlad "didn't want to be in the ring".

Thanks for checking in to the thread.

I'll hit you up if I need to overrule "styles make fights" because my favorite fighter got beat up and almost stopped by a worse version of an opponent.

    Absolutely 100% this.

"Dusseldorf Fury" was a pillowfist who relied on hugging and spoiling - which he did very well... But Usyk would've dealt with it just as well as he did when they actually fought.

Any version of Fury gets UD'd by Usyk pretty much every single time.

Plus... Dusseldorf Fury wouldn't get preferential treatment - he might well have been stopped.

The concept of "Düsseldorf Fury" makes me laugh for some reason. It was his best performance, but still an absolutely horrible fighter to watch. Usyk beats any version of Fury.

Fury faced an unmotivated Wlad. That fight was extremely ugly. Doubt Fury would have won a rematch.

Unmotivated Wlad my ass. Wlad was embarrassed in that fight. There’s levels. Usyk > Fury > Wlad

Agreed Fury vs Wladimir was one of the worst Heavyweight title fights in history Wladimir only threw 6 power punches in 6 rounds which shows how awful the fight was.

I think Fury got into Wladimir's head with his antics and Wladimir really regretted his performance after which is why he was so eager for a rematch to set the record straight.

Now to be fair I do think Fury would always be a tricky opponent for Wladimir. But it would've been interesting to see how a motivated Wladimir would've done in a rematch.

Regardless a 39 year old Usyk would beat the Fury of the Wladimir fight. If we're judging Usyk's form based on the 2nd Dubois fight there's no reason not to favour Usyk.

Fury likes to fight at his own pace and as Usyk said "I will never leave you alone belly".

Usyk will always take over in the 2nd half of the fight vs any version of Fury. Simply because Fury hasn't got the conditioning to live with Usyk who never let's Fury relax and forces him out of his comfort zone with smart pressure and constant feints.

Wlad would have eaten Usyk for breakfast. He didn't have issues with smaller post Soviet bloc fighters.

Your grade-A condescension does not make anything I say any less on-point :risas3:

And FWIW, Joshua is pretty far from my favourite fighter as anyone who has seen more than a few of my posts would recognise.

Wlad vs Fury was a dull stinker, whereas Wlad vs Joshua was a great fight, and whilst some of that is due to the Fury / Joshua differences, much of it was due to Wlad IMO - and others share that view it would seem.

You need to throw more than 7 Punches per round to beat Usyk, so Dusseldorf Fury would lose another points decision.

Unpopular opinion, the Fury from Fury vs Usyk 1 was the best ive actually seen him look, for 6 rounds. Ultimately, Usyk is just better. He beats any version. Dusseldorf Fury would be gassed even faster than 6 with the negative pitter patter feint feint feint feint feint feint style.

Reality is, Fury gets beat by Usyk. Whatever date in history you want to pick.

Dusseldorf Fury threw like 5 punches a round. That wouldn't work against Usyk.

Styles make fights and some fighters have certain different attributes at different times in their careers
I actually think the version of Fury that fought Usyk at that time was the best version for that particular fight.
The version of Fury fighting now sets his feet more and looks to throw bigger more hurtful punches and also seems to fight at range better imo
We will never know, but they did fight when both were champions
