Huni is one of the best heavyweights today in terms of skill.

I mean, Parker made it this far with no power and a mediocre chin, and isn't as skilled.
So I think Huni might be okay in the end.

I know Parker was billed as having an incredible chin but I think the fact he was so cautious against AJ is good evidence it never was granite and even if it was good he's been falling over a lot lately so it's a bit cracked and is probably a mediocre mandible at this point.

I don’t get how people can say he has a glass chin when the only guy to knock him out is agreed to be one of the most powerful punchers in the division. Surely a suspect mandible is because a weak(er) punch put you out cold? No one said Wilder’s opponents had a weak chin because he knocked them out.

If he’d had a full camp for the Wardley fight he might’ve got up and won.

I think he could easily be top 5 and maybe catch a vacant title altho I don’t see him ever being the top hw.

I assume if he had the 'right' environment and maybe nationality, he would get the holyfield treatment and his two issues chin and power would be greatly reduced.

Sadly in australia there are no wild boars (i think?) and mexican beef is far away, too. He could still eat a (literal) ton of eggs?

If Paulie Malanaggi had KO power he would be unstoppable. But, he didn't....and, he wasn't. I am not impressed with Huni. I don't rate fighters on traits they don't have.

Huni is quality he only lost one fight that he took on short notice and was the underdog in his opponents backyard. He also looked great before he was KO'd. This is boxing not everybody can win them all and at heavyweight especially it can be all over quickly.
Huni's win over Paul Gallen is also extremely underrated.

He's a heavyweight Linares. Well, maybe not as good as Linares, but the similarities are there. The Wardley bout was similar to Linares vs DeMarco. He'll be back and will surprise people imo.

Depends - skills with very little power, a decent+ chin and excellent recovery took Fury a long way...

But you're right generally, it's a rarity at heavy.

    Thing is...

Okay warning first, I'm going to say something I say a lot:
"It's only as good as the level it's been proven at"

It's all very well looking slick whilst fighting bums, but that has zero value when it comes to figuring out whether a guy is legit skilled or not... And even if they are, if they're unable to apply it at a high level, it's worthless.

Boxing is a results business, there are no points for style:
    - If you can't see the final bell, it doesn't matter how many rounds up you are.
    - If you don't have the gas tank to win 7/12 rounds, it doesn't matter how much you dominate the first 3-5 rounds.
    - You're not going to get more than a one point margin without a KD even if you land 30 punches in a round and the other guy doesn't land anything at all.
    - You're not going to scare guys with slickness - if you lack power there will be guys that are crude but can walk through your pitty pat's and knock you out.

It's all very simple - if you want serious observers to rate you and rank you high?
You have to fight good guys and beat them.

    Everything else is hype.

    Maybe a heavyweight Amir Khan?

He might well have some success, but I suspect he'll always have limitations, too.

    Yep well said Bubbles.
Huni is in the same category as Itauma for me right now - passes the eye test, but we won't know until we find out against higher levels.
He put in a great performance on short notice against Wardley, and hopefully we'll see tomorrow how well that loss ages because Wardley himself hasn't shown anything at the top level yet.

Wardley is not a world-level puncher; he's knocked nobody out of note. He went life and death with Clarke at the British level the first time around, so you'd think if Huni had a semi-decent chin, he could've coasted to a 12-round UD, especially considering he won every round convincingly. Also, he was stopped and dropped a few times in the amateurs, wasn't he? He is very skilled, but he does have flaws.

I know people have a really hard time understanding this, but getting KO’d means you lost, and nothing else matters. He doesn’t get points or ranking for winning rounds before getting knocked out.

He so far has fought one (barely at the time iirc) top rated heavyweight, and he got KO’d. So as it stands, he is either barely, or not world level.

Would be cool to see him prove otherwise, but that’s where we’re at now.

Paulie Malignaggi vibes from Huni, can outbox work class fighters in my opinion, but will come found wanting alot of the time due to the lack of power, and how thin them whiskers are.

Huni the type of guy to get banged out by Dave Allen but box the ears off Bakole. Weird one.
