No because there’s literally no way to know how good Bakole was that night. He took the fight on one day’s notice, was on holiday, spent most of that day on a plane.

A lot of people were backing Bakole to win knowing his condition. After Parker dispatched him, suddenly it's not a good win.

No. Bakole rolled off the bed then got on a plane then rolled off the plane into the ring.

I adsume the weight and lack of training helped to put bakole down.

    1. If you're weighing 40 lbs more than you usually do, it affects how you fight. You might not make the little adjustments that usually help you tank the shots. Put your head down a little, change posture from the get go and in reaction, a whole bunch of little movements every second at once. Every one of those movements costs way more energy and is tedious compared to usual.

    2. Add to that that he wasn't only way heavier, he was also out of shape in terms of conditioning. Multiplies the effects of 1.

    3. Sleep deprived/jet lagged/mentally unprepared. Obviously he is a professional fighter, but still - parker had many weeks to get into the mindset, Training with a fight in mind. Bakole was out eating and partying. Another multiplication of 1.

    4. The shot itself was NOT aimed where it landed. You can see bakole evade the shot. The shot was aimed at bakoles left temple and landed on the right temple because of the way bakole slipped. It was a freak shot that is not repeatable.

    5. Many of those shots landed on joyce and didn't do much - but then again joyce was an absolute monster in taking shots.

    6. Credit to parker for throwing these kinds of shots nowadays. No idea how joyce tanked that multiple times without flinching. He tagged wilder good with them and with bakole he got lucky.

Bottom line: good win for parker, but I wouldn't overrate it because it ended on a freak shot - very sad that the fight didn't have bakole in good shape, because I think this could have been a really good fight

I am not sure if this is necessarily inconsistent or hypocrisy. Those people thought parker was bad before and also thought that bakole would have enough to beat him in his condition.

You can update you beliefs in two ways:
    1. Parker is better than you thought
    2. Bakole is worse or his condition is worse than you thought.

Or you just come to the conclusion the fight has not a lot of meaning because it ended on a crazy punch pretty early before there was much to see.

Ftr I like parker, but I think a rematch with a fit bakole would be at least as dangerous for him as the wardley matchup is.

At the time, I could see a lot of guys in Parkers shoes NOT taking Bakole on short notice (or any notice for that matter) so I give credit for Parker taking him on (a little similar to Lennox Lewis taking on Vitali on short notice).

I give Bakole credit for taking the fight on extreme short notice, if he had won his stock would of been through the roof.

However, Bakole obviously wasn't 100%, but then again not Parkers fault Bakole likes to blow up between fights and not stay in shape.

It’s way overrated bakole took the fight on two days notice was out of shape and had to fly across the world and fight jet lagged and exhausted

Bakole came in at ~300lbs for the Ajagba fight and pretty comfortably ate his right hands for 10 rounds.

I don't put too much in the weight that Bakole "weighed in" at for the Parker fight, wanst it just like a random report at the airport doing it? His pockets could have been filled etc and at that size, ~10lbs will change over the course of a few hours.

Even if Bakole was at his best Parker would still have found that shot, or similar ones and won the fight. He just has little to no defense, nor the activity of Joyce, while Parker has gotten sharper.

Bakole was obviously compromised by being out of shape, having no camp, the late notice, and arriving in Saudi the day of the fight but blasting him out early with one shot was impressive, especially given it was a top of the mind shot and Bakole was so much bigger.

Bakole has never shown any signs of lacking durability, even against Hunter he took a sickening amount of flush full power shots and in quick succession for the finish. Ajagba's a massive puncher. Anderson's a big puncher. Shevadzutskyi's a big puncher. Yoka, Kuzmin and Hunter can all crack.

This new 267lb J-Park seems to be hitting with more force. One of his friends and former sparring partners

Bakole stepped in last minute, with no preparation, got a decent purse for his efforts, his loss as a very late replacement in my view has not damaged his reputation.

Parkers win was expected, however he decisively defeated the fighter in the opposite corner, which is all we can ask of a boxer, Dubois withdrawing from the bout so late was not Parkers fault.

Parker did a good professional job, that is where i rate the win.

Hard to say. Yes he had no camp, but conditioning wasnt his problem. Getting flattened that early shouldnt really happen to you camp or no camp, imo.

So idk, I count it as a good win, while also acknowledging and understanding that many people wont.

Nope, Bakole had zero preparation and honestly he's always been overrated.

But I will add Parker did what he should do under these circumstances and blast his under prepared and out of shape opponent out of the ring early. Good performance by Parker, but not a good win.

Yes, it's overlooked. Replacement opponents are always 50/50 for both boxers. Paraphrase, "it's the surprise of your life" as Foreman said.

Given the dreadful state and condition of Bakole, it could've (if he had been fully medically assessed) and should've been declared a no contest. Jumping in the ring with a world class operator straight off a plane trip a quarter way round the world, while feasting on pizzas and kebabs is worse than no preparation at all

I credit Parker for doing exactly what he needed to and no more: Bakole was a disgrace, an embarrassment and showed everyone what hes really in the sport for.
