It makes me sad that BT Sports and Sky Sports stepped away from boxing. My only hope is Netflix interest grows and hosts regular cards, doubt it will ever happen though.
I think they’ve just massively overestimated Wardley’s selling power in London — he’s a big draw in Ipswich, sure, but that doesn’t translate down south. Parker’s not exactly a ticket-seller here either, especially after moving 20k against Huni. This one was always going to struggle. They needed some big ticket sellers on the undercard. Should’ve given Shalom a call — he’d have got some of his boys on at a discount and probably signed Bakole for a Big Mac meal deal… supersized, of course.
Apparently the Sky boxing contract is out to tender with 35+ interested parties . Front runners are the Ring and Most Valuable Promotions ( lots of women’s boxing there, perfect for Sky ). Once this John Wischausen court case is over in November, Sky are back. Apparently. Sky only want PPV standard shows so I guess fat Mick and Kalle aren’t getting the contract.
Avoiding the result is almost impossible when searching YouTube. The result and images of the winner’s hand raised, is the norm!
Interesting. Outside of Matchroom and Queensbury I'm not really sure who fits the mould. Even though I'd like to see Wazza back on Sky, I'd be surprised if he moved over since he's not been on DAZN for long. Can't see Eddie going back there either.
Sounding like Itauma might be off the December card so maybe just Chisora as headliner. Are they really gonna put Chisora vs Whyte as a PPV in December 2025.
Frank saying they are going stateside next year with shows, and Moses will be in America early next year. So perhaps he opens in the US with Moses vs Baby Miller
If Wardley had been matched with any of the British heavyweights coming to the end of their careers — especially the London-based ones like Chisora, Whyte, or Joyce — it probably would’ve sold out the O2, especially with the right promotion behind it. Those are fights Wardley would’ve been heavily favoured to win and could’ve looked good doing so, maybe even pulled off a highlight-reel knockout. I get that Whyte might not have been possible due to managerial ties, but money does talk. Instead, here he is against Parker — a fight hardly anyone’s interested in, and one where he’s got very little chance of winning. In my opinion, he’s got a puncher’s chance at best, especially after that Huni performance where he was getting outboxed and taking a sustained beating until lightning struck. Against Parker, unless Wardley lands something big or drags him into an unlikely shootout, this has all the makings of a 120–108 or 118–112 type of fight for Joey12 — and a really boring one at that. I honestly hope I’m proved wrong, that Fabio knocks Parker out, and that Warren ends up with both horses in this one-horse race.
Maybe we could make a thread for next morning fight highlights without spoilers....Actually, that would probably never work, would be to much work for the mods, there will always be posters ruining it.
Good tactic, will try. thanks. Often there is a photo of the grinning winner, which is hard to avoid. Was lucky getting the Moses-Whyte one, as some kind soul had it on, less than an hour after it finished. None of the usual bars, were aware of it being staged, let alone having heard of Ituama, and they were Sports Bars!
I think Parker-Wardley is a good fight and certainly no worse than Dillian Whyte and most Joshua PPVs we had from SKY/Matchroom a few years ago. But ..... £25? on top of the DAZN subscription. That's pure greed. The fact that it's such a price makes me wonder what they're going to price the premium no-more-PPVs or 'PPV-exempt' subscription at, IF .... and it's a big "if" .... that really does come in November. If they're looking to be milking every penny right now with something like Parker-Wardley you can guarantee it's going to be a significant bump up in price, AND/OR they'll just throw some awful quality PPVs on just to say they've given X number of PPVs included in the subscription. But I'm past caring. I'm cancelling the subscription and i'll wait until a few hours before a PPV to see how i feel about paying up.
