Tom's father/coach has laid out the plan for Tom to fight out the remaining 3 fights under his UFC contract and then venture into boxing

I think so. Fury respected his boxing ability iirc, he’s stupidly quick and powerful for such huge man which could work for him against the more hittable guys. However, he also has the tendency to brawl and abandon technique.

If Ngannou managed to find success I wouldn’t be surprised if a much quicker and overall better boxer than Francis would as well. Perhaps more so.

On a side note, his dad’s a good man for having his son’s best interests at heart but this was a damn foolish thing to say in public. It further alienates Tom from Dana and the UFC who will blackball him like they did Francis.

I agree, hearts in the right place but a bit foolish to say publically. Can see the UFC potentially trying to delay and stretch out his last 3 fights as long as possible if they have the heads up he won't re-sign.

Aspinall can really box. His power also translates to the big gloves. Id fancy him to do well. Probably not win as his fights will be against the upper echelon. Hes probably a good British level though for sure.

    I mean, success is relative.

Could he beat a row of scrubs, and then maybe beat a top 13 type gatekeeper? And set himself up for a big payday? Sure.

Could he beat a top 7 guy? Absolutely not, imo.

He leaves himself too open when he punches.

I actually think AJ would knock Tom out quicker than he did Ngannou.

Actually, I think Ngannou could very well beat Tom and I dont see any reason he shouldnt be favored to.

He would have been a Fisher, Allen, Babic type domestic UK undercard guy in boxing. Hes big and athletic with solid power but his boxing is fairly one dimensional for actual boxing.

I think he has more success than Ngannou. He could beat a Dave Allen, and I’m not counting him out beyond that either, but I’d have to see how he does.

NO! He punches with his chin up in the sky. He is a KO waiting to happen.

Wait, so he spent his entire life working to become the best in the world, and will walk away from the sport the moment he achieves said goal?

Also, Tom´s father speaking so publicly about this will backfire on them. Dana does not like this type of talk, and he will sabotage Tom´s career as he has done with so many others.

Can't defend against jabs, he holds his head up and rushes in, Allen is better defensively, he has a better guard.

I agree, but he'd be more likely to get sparked in a boxing ring than in the octagon, the heavyweight division in the UFC doesn't have many big punchers right now.

Meh fluke KOs happen a lot more often in MMA from what I have seen.

Name me 5 heavyweight MMA fighters with one punch KO power, the UFC heavyweight division is considered to be completely awful, DC mentioned it to Aspinal after he interviewed him before his fight with Gane.

It IS awful but 4 oz gloves + MMA fighters having way worse defense + MMA fighters needing to focus on about 5 different things other than punches make it easier for fluke KOs to happen.

Also HWs of the last few years literally only have power as their saving grace. Tai Tuivasa, Shamil Gaziev, Derrick Lewis, all are fat blobs with no elite ability but hitting like a goddamn truck. Even Gane showed considerable power against Tuivasa.
