Tyson Fury v Fabio Wardley

Ok I know there have been a lot of Wardley threads since the weekend but there hasn't really been much else to talk about as there hasn't been many big fights lately.

I have seen a lot of hypothetical potential fights like Wardley v AJ, Opetaia, Dubios and of course Usyk.

So who wins Fury or Wardley? I am interested in everybody's take because I still believe that Fury is the second best heavyweight in the world.

 

It would be a horrible fight for Fury, I think, especially at this point in his career. Wardley is so fresh and unorthodox, and wouldn't fold from the first decent shot. It'd be a brutal fight, which I could see going the full 12. If Fury still had anything left in the tank, he should win on points, but he can get caught and put down by Wardley. If they did fight, I'd go for Fury close UD in an absolute shootout.

 

A fit, switched on Fury beats everybody bar Usyk, and gives Usyk a better fight than anybody else as well.

But Wardley is not the guy an aging heavyweight wants or needs to be fighting at the present time.

 

Yep agree on all counts but if they were to fight I reckon Fury would jab his head off and eventually take him out late. He might have a few scares along the way though.

 

Yeah, my money would be on a fit, focused Fury to beat Wardley but it would be a very interesting fight and Fury wouldn't come out unscathed.

 

Yep but from what I have seen out of Wardley I see guys with a good uppercut like Fury and AJ being able to hurt him.

 

Fury dances rings around him and stops him late. He's got reach, size, better footwork and he can punch when he wants to.

 

At this stage of Furys career (or retirement) i do not think he wants to be facing Wardley, a fit heavyhanded confident boxer, who carries that power into the last round

In his prime Fury would have caused Wardley to have a nightmare day at the office, but today i think Fury should stay the safe side of the ropes.

 

I think Fury if he comes in shape and focused would have a pretty comfortable night and win a wide decision against Wardley.

On top of Fury's technical ability advantage over Wardley, his defence and recovery skills is a big factor here. Wardley would be missing shots all night and getting clipped with counters all over the shop.

 

Don't think so.

If it goes the distance, which it probably does, Fury wins.

If there's a stoppage, it's Fury who gets stopped.

Fury doesn't have the power to stop Wardley..

 

I actually think Fury hits harder than anyone Wardley has faced.

Tyson Fury is a 37 year old HW who will be out the ring for at least 18 months until his next fight.

The chances of him beating someone like Wardley at this point are very small.

If he does come back in June of next year it will either be against another shot fighter like Whyte or a warm up against a Sefer Seferi type.

He isn’t stepping back right in at the deep end.

even in his prime he fought no one of risk outside Wilder and Usyk... so the chances of Fury even giving a young gun a opportunity is slim to none considering he wouldn't do it in his prime.
