As everyone has said on here before, how many people are paying for these shows on DAZN PPV. The vast majority of people who would subscribe to Sky Sports do not know that DAZN exist. Many of those people probably don’t know who Fabio Wardley is. Then there’s 4 PPVs in 2 months while a cost of living crisis is going on. The buys must be tiny. Then Itauma is back early next year PPV, Joshua’s back PPV, Usyk’s back PPV etc etc. DAZN is basically Prime Time. Do you remember them. They were a PPV channel that showed the Super Six with Froch ( until he went to Sky ) , Hatton’s last fight and various other stuff . That was taking the p1ss but at least you didn’t have to subscribe . This DAZN thing has gone mental.
I really hope this is promoted as a stand alone fight night, not PPV, UK, couple of British title fights on the undercard.
The undercard will be dreadful. It’s in January and McCormack and Vuong won’t be on the card as they are fighting a few weeks before. Not complaining about seeing a Brit challenging for a World Title landing in the UK though.
Chisora should thank his lucky stars people still want to put him on their shows. Proper self-entitled big baby.
For hardcore boxing fans, £23/month isn’t THAT bad with all PPV’s included. There’s been 12 in the last year so on average 1 a month plus the other stuff is alright I guess. It’s still miles away from what they promised when they first launched mind. The problem is casual fans aren’t going to lay down that money. How long until a fight is announced that isn’t part of the deal though? DAZN have hardly been reliable with keeping promises.
Is this just gonna create a new tier of PPV though. Like say a fight like Wardley vs Parker or Chisora vs Whyte 3 (I know it’s off) would be included in your DAZN Ultimate PPV plan as they’re thought of as B tier PPV’s but if they have a massive A tier PPV fight like Usyk vs Fury for example that’s not included. I don’t trust DAZN at all tbh.
What’s to stop them putting on a stinker on PPV like Lawrence Okolie in Africa. They know fine well nobody would buy it but they could claim it counts as one of your 12 PPV’s so that a fight you actually want to see isn’t included and you have to pay extra.
I just caved and grabbed the DAZN Ultimate deal, couldn’t be bothered messing around. Cost me £197.31, I think I had a bit left over from my old subscription. It includes Eubank v Benn and Benavidez v Yarde, which I would’ve bought anyway. Plus I just like the fact you can replay and rewind; other services might offer something similar for less, but they don’t quite have the same optionability. I’m sure they’ll find some way around it eventually with “Super PPV” cards or whatever, but for now it’s a decent deal, much like that £83.89 promotion last year.
