It looks like Australian boxing will be delivering a King Timmy Christmas & a Prince Nikita New Year. Good match-up between Nikita & Micky Z. A little surprised they aren't being more careful with Nikita. He's fought less than a round after being out injured for 12 months. Zerafa is no pushover in this country. Good timing for the fight having it in the New Year. Foxtel will flog the fight like nothing else during the Boxing Day & New Year cricket tests. General sports fans will be salivating for it by the time it comes around. It will get a bigger build up than Ali-Frazier.
Definitely picked up a little hesitation in Nikita over the past few months. He doesn't seem too thrilled with this match up. Despite bagging out Zerafa a couple of times.
I was a Horn fan but he was handed a lifeline in the rematch when the referee stopped Zerafa from finishing him so the doctor could look at Horn's eye. Horn's eye was butchered and the doctor should have stopped it, but he didn't and the break allowed Horn a 2nd wind and he was able to dig deep and turn it around. Great fight but Zerafa hard done by IMO.
Hope that Micky Hatton punches holes in Nikita. Fcken Georgie Rose saying its the highest quality fight that Australia can put on. Ffs, Mickey H against a boxer with 10 fights next to his name, yet in Dec you've got the number 1 cruiserweight in the world, defending his belts against the mandatory contender. What a flog
The Butcher wants to butcher: “On January 16 my mindset will change. I’ll have no remorse. I’ll have to be a killer. I want this fight to go as long as possible, to stay in there, impose myself, and put a beating on him."
Oh I agree the ref saved Horn that night but Zerafa blew it he was in there with a smaller guy that he had already steam rolled 6 months earlier. Looking back there was really no excuse for losing that fight.
Was also at that event at the Brisbane Convention Centre. Also remember that Zerafa's coach, at the time, Sam Labruna, who doesn't fly, did not attend the fight and Zerafa was corned by Blake C. Jeff came out much more aggressive that he did in their first bout in Bendigo.
Huge fight looming next year for Cherneka Johnson 18-2 against undefeated, former multiple title holder Dina Thorslund 23-0. Johnson got her chance to win all the titles in the Metcalf fight, when Thorsland pulled out due to pregnancy. Sadly, Thorslund lost the baby but is on the comeback trail. First though, Johnson needs to get the job done on Amanda Galle 12-0-1, in two weeks time. Galle has only one KO to her name. So hopefully she won't pose too great a threat to Johnson.
Was ready to mercilessly bag this but it wasn't as bad as I expected: This content is protected If the fight goes into a 2nd round both fighters stand toe to toe to sort it and if you step back you lose a point.
