    UK Wilder vs USA Wilder.

Wardley has even less amateur experience than Wilder, but a massive right hand. Crazy thing is, I think he's actually technically decent for his lack of experience.

    Who wins?

Against a 2017-2018 version of wilder he imho looses but it would be a hell of a fight .

    Hard to tell just yet...

But on the little evidence we do have - Wardleys best win is better than anything Wilder managed.
Even taking into account the fact Parker fought like an idiot, when you balance that out against Ortiz being ancient, on heart meds and Wilder needing to be rescued from getting stopped... Wardley would have the better win even if Ortiz was a legit contender too, and I don't buy that for a moment.

    On top of that...
Wilder didn't have a great chin, where we're not sure what Wardleys is like just yet - looks okay so far, but it's not proven granite yet.

Wilder had a lot of heart, and if he got hit a lot he might need it - then again, if he got hit a lot he'd probably get stopped.

Really hard to call with what we've seen from Wardley so far - but unless Parker was a fluke, I'd probably favour him.

Similar fighters to some extent - both have massive power but aren't technically anywhere as good as the best in the division.

Wilder in his prime was a much bigger puncher than Parker ever was, and Wilder was a very dangerous starter too. I think its one of those fights where it depends who lands first really, it wouldn't surprise me if Wilder knocked out Wardley in the first round as Wardley is very hittable even if he has a good chin.

Whoever lands first, really, but Wilder probably has a better chin than Wardley, and he definitely has more explosive one-punch power. Wardley would not go in there scared, though, and he would have it; it'd be an incredible 2/3 rounds while it lasted, if Wardley pushed him back and landed first it'd be very interesting.

Wilder never beat anyone as good as Parker.

I have to see more of Wardley, but from just the Parker fight and how he looked in it, I actually didnt give his defense enough credit there... he was rolling and slipping a ton of shots that hints he has some subtle abilities there with his feel for natural fighting.

Cant make a call off of one fight but just from that he would obviously be a very hard opponent. The sad thing is he would be Wilders second or third best opponent lol. Its not like Wilder is proven against better fighters than Wardley. Which is crazy when you think about how long Wilder was around for.

I know his resume is not great but Wilder in his prime was extremely dangerous he didn't just stop fighters he sent them to the shadow realm. He was pretty durable as well it took severe beatings from Fury to finally put him down for the count. I think that Wardley would win rounds possibly have Wilder reeling but I reckon Wilder eventually detonates the right hand on his chin and takes him out.

"Not great" is rather charitable... For a champion and supposed legit contender, it's really poor - if you took his name and belt off it, you'd think it was probably a gatekeepers resume.

    Was he that durable though?

He was lucky to have A-side privilege in his first Ortiz fight or he'd have been stopped there.

And Fury was never a particularly huge puncher - yes Wilder took a lot of shots in those fights, but they weren't particularly massive shots...

I guess what I'm getting at is... What's the assumption here - is Wilder pre-supposed to be durable and therefore those must have been hefty beatings to put him down? Because it's not like there was much evidence of him being super durable before...

Has to be said in his defence, though, that he certainly had heart to want to keep going despite the accumulation clearly having a major effect on him (regardless of whether it was particularly powerful by general standards or just more than he was capable of taking).

Depends how much of Wardleys output Wilder could actually last through - and whether he could actually find the time and space to wind up his full power right...

Would probably have made for an interesting fight.

    Great point.

And we can't throw up the controversy of the Parker stoppage as Wilder's best win over Ortiz also wasn't without controversy.

Wardley is a better boxer with a solid chin that would throw big punches at Wilder and test his chin. Wilder capable of cracking that chin though. Would have been an awesome fight.
