So they'd all destroy Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Liston etc? Is the evolution also in the lighter weights?
Evolution is not an endless thing. Frazier debuted in 1964, 72 years after the beginning of the first gloved heavyweight boxing championship. The human body today isn't drastically different from a century ago. The idea that fighters get automatically better every decade, techniques magically get better. Its quite silly to believe that. Joe Louis is a better combintion puncher than Oleksandyr Usyk. If "evolution" was endless, then Usyk would be a better combination puncher than Louis. Let's look at these match ups: Fury vs Frazier - it will be very hard for the 5'11 Frazier to close the distance vs the 6'8 Fury. Fury would likely have success for the first 4-5 rounds. But Fury has a big body and Frazier's hooks will big into Fury's ribs. Fury will slow down badly after round 6. Fury himself has admitted that small slippery boxers give him trouble. I think Frazier decisions Fury. Zhang vs Frazier - we don't know how Frazier does vs southpaws. Its possible Zhang could land some big shots in the first few rounds, leading to a potential stoppage. But as we saw vs Kabayel, Zhang slows down, especially when hit by body shots. Again, Frazier has incredible stamina and body punching. Dubois vs Frazier - here is where the evolution thing makes no sense. Dubois is nowhere near as durable as Foreman. Dubois's left hook nor his right uppercut nor his left uppercut are remotely in Foreman's league. If evolution was true, Dubois would have more punching variety than Foreman but he doesn't. Usyk was able to land looping left hands and that discouraged Dubois from moving forward. I can bet you that Frazier's left hook carries more pop than Usyk's looping left. Unless Dubois gets Frazier out of there in 5 rounds, he won't be able to keep up with the smaller man's superior endurance. Do i think Frazier goes 3-0 vs these guys? Maybe not. We did not see him vs a 6'8 guy or a hard punching left hander. So its quite possible Frazier loses to 1 out of these 3. But conversely, these modern heavies have not dealt with a small slippery high work rate hard body punching type.
Realistically as much as I like Frazier he wouldn't beat all 3 no because he's simply got too much to overcome in overall size. I don't like Fury but he dealt with Chisora pretty easily who is an aggressive pressure fighter who's capable of a high workrate. Yes Chisora isn't as good as Frazier but he's also alot bigger than Frazier, and Frazier doesn't have the right hand to trouble Fury which seems to be the biggest of Fury. I think Fury ties up the smaller Frazier and neutralizes him similar to what Ali did in their 2nd fight. Zhang has no gas tank but he's way bigger than Frazier with the type of thudding power that Foreman had. Kabayel was able to break down Zhang with body punches but again he's way bigger than Frazier. It all depends if Frazier can get through the first 6 rounds then his chances of winning greatly increase. But I'm finding it hard to see how Frazier is going to walkthrough Zhangs power he's so much bigger than Frazier but again it all depends on whether Frazier can survive the early onslaught. Dubois has a suspect chin and has a tendency to quit when things aren't going his way. His power would make him a legit threat to Frazier early but I think Frazier could weather the storm and stop Dubois in 8-10 rounds.
Sorry I don't see Frazier beating Fury and I used to think the opposite but realistically there's too much of a size difference. 8 inches in height, 60-70 pound weight advantage, 12 inch reach advantage. Fury would tie up Frazier on the inside and do exactly what Ali did to him in the 2nd fight neutralising his offence. Frazier hasn't got the game changing right hand to deter Fury which is Fury's biggest weakness. Fury ties up and neutralises the smaller man to win a decision. Also we don't really know how Frazier fares against KO punchers. He was destroyed by Foreman and there's no real evidence of Frazier beating any real notable KO artist he didn't fight the other big hitters of his era like Shavers, Lyle, etc. You can maybe excuse the Foreman fight somewhat but then you can also say Frazier is a bit of an unknown quantity KO artists. Frazier has a good chin but not a granite chin and he can be seriously hurt. Even Ali was on the verge of stopping Frazier in their 2nd fight early on and Frazier got a lucky break with the round ending early. Frazier is a warrior and a likable fighter but realistically he would not go 3-0 vs fighters who would make this look like the real life version Ivan Drago vs Rocky Balboa with the size difference.
I don't count Fury out too. But Ali is a different type of fighter. Ali could maintain a work rate Fury's large body simply can't. Fury's large body also provides a lot of opportunity for Frazier to slow him down with.
Chisora couldn't do anything vs Fury he's a pressure fighter who hooks alot who's capable of good workrate he threw 600+ punches vs Usyk which is the same amount Frazier threw in 15 rounds vs Ali. Fury has got too much mass and size he would neutralize Frazier's offence and win a decision.
Fury is by far the best out of the 3 and I think he'd have a good chance of beating Frazier by decision. Dubois and Zhang are dangerous but very flawed, I'd give them a punchers chance only.
The only one I give him a chance against is Zhang and that's soley because there's a reasonable chance Zhang blows his wad and simply can't keep up with Frazier's workrate. On the other hand, Zhang will absolutely flatten Frazier with a couple of clean hits, and I don't think Frazier has the 1 punch power to hurt Zhang.
15 rounds for the heavyweight championship of the world...I'd bet the house that none of them can stop Joe Frazier and none of them would hear the final bell....These so-called evolved heavyweights are lumbering oafs with the stamina of a grandmother next to Joe Frazier.
Tell me how two of those evolved heavyweights did against a smaller older Usyk? and Zhang? Take that act to a comedy club rather than feed it to Frazier
