2 minute rounds or 3 minutes for women

  1. Continue with 2 minute rounds

  2. Change to 3 minute rounds

  3. Use 3 minute rounds for world title level fights only

The 2 min rounds are too short, I don't see why they shouldn't fight 3 min rounds like the men. Women run marathons, ultra marathon too, fighting for 3 min rounds isn't going to be a huge stretch for them.

30 sec rounds would be nicer and 3 rounds max. Also smaller rings or just a phone booth.

Whatever they agree on, they can not only make title fights for 3 minute rounds. Imagine the advantage someone used to 3 minute rounds would enjoy over challengers who didn't actually ever have the chance to train for that. It's quite a different thing. Challengers should not be forced to deviate so much from what they have learned.

The thing that makes women's MMA exciting are all the ways they can fight. They can use kicks and knees. They can ground and pound and they can apply submissions. A lot of variables and the potential for knockouts and stoppages. Sure, they're not as good as the men, but they still get stoppages, which makes it more exciting.

In women's boxing, it's just light punches for 2 minutes and then repeat. They're not as skilled as low-level male fighters. I watched the first Taylor/Serrano fight and it didn't do much for me. It's a skilled women's fight, but it still feel like a watered-down version of a men's boxing match with 2 minute rounds. And like you mentioned, the talent pool is so shallow so there are barely any good challengers and the talent gap between the top fighters and the rest of are wide. Women's MMA has a deeper talent pool because a lot of international women train in MMA and they can make for more exciting fights.

Yeah, plus the fact they wear smaller gloves helps, haha.

To be honest, I love both sports, but I find MMA more exciting in general, no matter what weight class, even if I don't know the fighters. I find myself zoning out sometimes watching boxing undercards, particularly if it's smaller guys and I don't really know a lot about them. However, the biggest MMA match will NEVER compare to the excitement of the biggest boxing match. It's why I chose to buy Parker-Wardley last weekend over Aspinall-Gane, even though the latter was for the heavyweight championship of the world. And then when I found out what happened, I was glad I made the right choice.

I myself have noticed that I find low level competition in MMA much more exciting to watch than low level boxing. I think it's the more random haphazard nature of MMA that lends to more excitement even at the lower ends of talent level.

Dana White's fight contender show has bouts with guys who haven't and may not ever make it to the UFC level, but there have been some downright exciting fights I've caught there. Which is why I don't think that model will work in boxing if Dana tries it there, boxing has to be somewhat high level to be enjoyable to watch.

2 min rounds and 10 rounds title fights is good for women. I rarely watch women boxing but those times I do it kinda fun to see them go all out for 2 min, 3 min would be too long to go “all out” and we would have to watch less skilled boxers try to box for 3 min. If they do 3 min rounds for women even less people will watch.

Aside from the fact women's boxing should be banned as inhumane and cruel punishment (both for viewers and participants) 3 minute rounds would considerably up the risk to female brains in a way that it doesnt for men.

We would, IMO, see a considerable uptick in the number of women being seriously hurt in the ring and dying in the ICU immediately after.
