It's amazing how even matchmaking was done that day, FW and before him like of Micky Duff used to go on word of regional promoters. Mexican, USA promoters with fighters of every calibre.

Very little footage of anyone but household names, those days.

If you had a decent prospect and you thought they could make even fringe world level lot of fights made via rankings, real Russian roulette in some ways.

The difference back then was that European champions were also world-level - think Magri, Stracey, Bruno, Minter and the rest. To be honest I'd rather watch the YouTube small hall bills than Saturday's offering.

I thought buatsi would go all the way. He has stayed at domestic level for too long.he seems to be going backwards each fight. i think he should fight yarde next and get that rivalry done with. I would always have backed buatsi to win but now im not so sure.

Yes I would have liked to see that happen. I think Flannagan is from Ancoats though and Crolla is from New Moston.

Would have been nice but they're lightweights..Crap division.

Unless it's a Saudi Payday, Buatsi is having a hard time motivating himself.

Oh I heard somewhere they went to the same school. Was good division back then I felt, especially domestically.

Any lower than super feather I could never get into. Lads as light as your bird and mum haha. Not for me. Hand speed is unreal from some of them though.

Yeah I actually just read that they went to the same school.

This happened before 9/11, I think you just proved his point. Anything below 160, I'm a bit meh.

I’m surprised to hear this from a knowledgeable fight fan like yourself. Everyone is different though.

Buatsi isn't a fighting man and that's massive problem with a lot of boxers these days, they're just gym rats looking for the best payday for the least amount of work, which sounds perfectly reasonable but this is the fight game and you have to have the hunger to entertain.
