I will take the Jesse Ferguson that beat Buster Douglas but if we pick a time at random Leon would likely win.
I think the Jesse Ferguson of 1985 vs the Leon Spinks who beat Bernardo Mercado around 1980 would be a fun fight to watch .
I think Leon at his very short best defeats Ferguson. Possibly an entertaining little scrap, Spinks by decision.
Leon had a high punch rate. Jesse would be hang in with him and do some good countering but the best Leon (say Spinks of Mercado as @mr. magoo suggests) simply outworks Ferguson over 10 rounds.
