As flawed as Shannon was he did it, at least some of the time, at the top level. Regardless of how the fight was viewed at the time. He has win over old Foreman. A stoppage over an older Mercer and a last gasp title win over Liakhovich and can call himself a world champion for ever more.

Purity tough as old boots and has that great win over Wlad... but while Briggs tended to loose to the best, Lewis, Vitali and a few others. Purity lost to some fairly average fighters, Dimitrenko, Hoffman, Levin and some guys who were barely above club level. I'm guessing that because he didn't duck anyone and took fights on short notice but it maybe tells us there were a few more chinks in the armor. Would have been a good fight but the Briggs that faced Lewis likely gets the win.

Purrity’s window was earlier than the fights you listed.

Purrity would have a really good shot in this one. I could easily imagine him weathering the early storm and pouring it on late against a tired Briggs. I highly HIGHLY doubt even roided up 260lb Briggs has enough pop to knockout Purrity.

If THIS Morrison left hook couldn’t stop Purrity… Briggs doesn’t have **** in his arsenal to do the job.

That is the worst I’ve ever ever saw prime Purrity hurt. Big Vitali did stop him but it was from busting him up with constant power shots and the ref called it because of too much blood :) I believe the Russian amateur star Miroshnichenko stopped him on cuts too. But Purrity was never actually KOed I don’t believe.

I actually think his chin might have been better than Mercer’s! I got Purrity by 10th round TKO. He hit pretty hard too.

Two tanks going at it. If Briggs' gas tank holds out then I think he wins on activity. If he runs out of steam then Puritty has the tools to ring his bell late.

See a controversial decision for the house fighter----which would obviously be Briggs. And zero talk of a rematch.
