McClellan would Minter in 3-5 rounds.

 

McClellan by late round TKO.

 

It would be a middleweight- Minter- against a cruiserweight in McClellan.

 

Gerald would tear Minter up. Not even being southpaw would prevent McCellan from finding him.
I could see that deadly combination right cross followed by the lefthook to the liver causing alot of damage.

 

Alan's getting a battering here.

I will go with the consensus, at some stage his fragile brows will let him down, causing the ref the interseed, he would I feel, be competitive for quite a while, also he could be dragged into a brawl, when the wiser option would be to box at length, I have fond, and sad memories of Alan as you all know, can't remember if he had to take on Hagler, or it was a voluntary defense, thinking he might have reigned for a bit longer had he chosen another contender, we will never know, but yes a loss for Minter in this fight.

McClellan is very overrated his only real notable wins are against a past it Jackson with eye problems.

McClellan was outboxed by Ralph Ward, Dennis Milton, and mostly anytime he was extended into the 2nd half of the fight he lost.

Unless Minter gets cut I'd take the version of Minter who schooled Antuofermo in their 2nd fight to outbox McClellan.

 

Minter goes through hell, but i think he pulls out a decision win. Cuts to Minter is the way G Man wins.

I think Minter gets a tad underrated by the general forum since most just know him for bouts that he lost, and didn't really get to see him in proper action. He impresses me in most bouts I've seen him in.

 

McClelland was a premier puncher, good chin but was easy to hit and he biggest wins over dangerous but faded Julian Jackson (had just struggled against Ron Collins, Thomas Tate, Wayne Powell and obviously Herol Graham).

Was outboxed by Dennis Milton (RIP) who was nearly stopped by Michael Olajide, destroyed by Jackson and Hopkins+solid Ralph Ward (coming off a one-sided losses to Terry Norris, Lindell Holmes).

Neither are in Minter´s class, not even close.

Apart from Jackson his biggest win is over a completely over the hill John Mugabi.

Minter was a top class amateur, probably would have won Olympic gold if not robbed in semi-final.

Was a quality boxer-puncher with a solid chin, was only knocked out by huge punching Tony Sibson in his last fight which I believe was the only time he had been down as a pro.

Beat quality fighters in Gratien Tonna, Sugar Ray Seales, Vito Antuofermo( x2), Kevin Finnegan (x3), Tony Licata, Rudy Robles and in his last fight in the States he lost a split decision to Mustafa Hamsho in a fight he badly hurt the iron chinned number 1 rated middleweight.

McClelland CV (resumé) doesn´t even come close.

Doesn´t mean Gerald can´t win, especially if he cuts Minters fragile eyebrows early on, but if Alan survives he would take over and win on points over 12 and possibly stop and exhausted McClellan in the latter rounds over 15.

Splendid summation of the teak-tough Minter, whom I’ve come to respect and admire (as a fighter — know really nothing of him as a man) over the years.

For the most part, only his unfortunate eyebrows let him down as he accumulated a nice assortment of scalps … apart from Hagler, who while he won on cuts was punching holes through Alan and I suspect was on his way to a TKO battering of a win. And, of course, there’s no shame in being outclassed by the Marvelous one.

I think McClellan probably wins on cuts but it’s more competitive than expected if Alan’s tissue-thin skin holds up to ge him past the fifth.

He was indeed a tough customer, fragile brows aside, I followed his career from amatuer to world champion, and went to lots of his fights, he was always in splendid condition, mind you he just about scraped through in one of the Finnegan fights, then again Kevin was also a very good boxer, I was in the audience at Caesars Palace when he won the title ( convincingly for me ) and backed him to that effect, couldn't see a goalkeeper like Antuofermo winning over Minter, he threw a big party on a big boat floating on water in the foyer of the hotel,I kid you not, he was generous with his time to the 50 or so that were there, posing with photos, including with yours truly, I imagined he would reign for maybe 3/4 defences, put a few bob in the bank, alas it was not to be, after he retired he slid down hill rather rapidly, I would approach him at various functions, and in the early years he would engage, but sadly as the years went by, he became more drink reliant, and his once quite peaceful nature was no more, he was morose, and sullen, his undeniable good looks were fading, such a shame , he wasn't the first ex fighter to succumb to the demon alcohol, and sadly not the last.
