Is he the kid who was fighting grown men at 13?

Didn't he win some titles and beat a future or past world champion?

Yup, that’s the one. First pro fight aged 9, and arguably the best flyweight in the country by 15, but he was too young to even be allowed to fight for the British title. His manager/trainer basically burned him out over the next couple of years, cashing in and exploiting him, so he never reached anything close to his potential, and then took a couple of heavy defeats up at higher weights and was effectively done by 17.

Some fantastic amateurs from Liverpool who didn't quite cut it in the pros as well: David Price, Tom Stalker, Anthony Fowler, and others, like Neil Perkins, from back in the 2000s, and Peter Culshaw in the 90s. Very deep boxing heritage.

Methyr Tydfil, Pontypridd, Caerphilly, Porth, Cefn Forest, Newbridge are all near each other with tiny populations

And this area has produced Jimmy Wilde, Joe Calzaghe, Howard Winstone, Freddie Welsh, Robbie Reagan, Percy Jones, Nathan Cleverly, Gavin Rees.

Dublin not in the UK I know, a population of 1.4 million but has 4 Olympic Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal -

    Gold

    Michael Carruth
    Kellie Harrington (2)
    Katie Taylor (1)

    Silver

    Kenny Egan
    Fred Tiedt

    Bronze

    Darren Sutherland

In the pros not so great just Steve Collins, Katie Taylor and Bernard Dunne but lack of a pro scene down through the years is what kept it low imo.

Is there a city in the UK (Except London) that has same amount of Olympic Gold boxing medals ?

    Great shout, mate.

It’s rare you get a name thrown out that makes to reflect on what you don’t know, rather tell everyone what you think you know.

Going to have a deeper dive on Daly’s career.
