Calzaghe would beat Pavlik decisively & hopkins WILL beat him

I'm not doubting Kelly at all, I know what he offers exactly and his style is pretty clear to figure out. The confusing one here is Bernard Hopkins, you just never know what this guy plans to do in there, that's the difference between a one-dimensional fighter and a multi-dimensional one. This doesn't mean that Pavlik is crap, hell no, he's a very solid opponent and I won't be surprised to see him being a heavy favorite in this one considering Hopkins' age. If Calzaghe, who isn't one-dimensional was barely able to beat Hopkins then don't expect Pavlik to do it by "murder" or easily unless Hopkins stands there wide open and looking to slug then that's a different, nearly impossible, case.

As far as being hard to figure out, it's all based on styles and Hopkins' style isn't easy to figure out at all, it will take aggression and affective aggression to seriously trouble Hopkins and that's something Pavlik will definitely offer but we just don't know if it will be affective enough against someone in Hopkins' style unless Hopkins runs out of gas in like 4 or 5 rounds. The same exact "Murder" stuff was said before Hopkins met Calzaghe and in the opening bell the ones that said it nearly choked. Hardly telling you that your prediction is impossible or crap, definitely not, just saying expect the unexpected.

 

That's what Hopkins should worry about here, if his stamina doesn't fail him early then I pick him to win, if not then he definitely loses but never easily.

 

I think the point is Hopkins has never come close to having anything resembling 'murder' performed on him in the ring. Whether he wins or not is another story.

 

Well I'm not going to get into some of the Teddy Atlas analogies here but just repeat the fact that the big difference between Joe and Kelly is Kelly is effective at range, power, workrate, the whole bit. Joe needs to get in close, which is why the fight was ugly in many respects. Alot of the greatest fighters in history were "easy" to figure out and despite them fighting boxers who werent they still handed em a beatdown. It doesnt matter what Bernard Hopkins steps in the ring, not one bit. We know he's crafty and will do his best to ruin the fight not bring it.

 

That's Hopkins though, he will use any advantage available to win and that's something I'm sure Pavlik will be prepared for. If Pavlik stays active and keeps those serious bombs coming till the 12th then he will eventually land enough if not more than Hopkins to win a decision.

This isn't a horrible fight, not for me at least and looking forward to it big-time. Pavlik deserves a lot of credit for taking this after not being able to make other fights, this won't be easy and he knows it, much respect to him for that.

 

Calzaghe did'nt beat hopkins, but hopkins did'nt do enough to deserve a victory.

 

Since when? He beat Kessler from range by taking away his jab, which is his greatest strength.

 

I don't think it's a horrible fight either. I critisized Calzaghe quite heavily for taking the fight with Hopkins, but after BHop gave Joe such a close fight, I changed my mind about where Hopkins stands in the over all scheme of things.

As you know, I really wanted to see Pavlik/Winky because that fight would put Pavlik up against a very cagey and experienced fighter. Hopkins beat Winky, and gave Calzaghe just about all he could stand, so Pavlik/Hopkins is even better than Pavlik/Wright.

 

It's not gonna fail him,he's fighting Pavlik

 

Hopkins will use this gameplan, i guarentee it.


Let Pavlik Come forward, pickin him of with jabs.
Pavlik leaps forward and hopkins bombs Kelly with hooks.
Bernard clinches, works the body.

At what point in what round of which fight did you ever see Pavlik "leap forward?" Show me a film clip. I'll wait.

 

what the **** is he talking about. The reality is is that Hopkins leads in with his head:deal How can he confuse the two Hopkins is dark complected and Pavlik is well white as a ghost. Is it opposite day?

 

Pavlik hits Taylor hard early on, then after 5 seconds leaps in with a left hook. taylor fails to counter.
