Size matters. Loma started 122-126. Teo and Haney started 135.

    Well he beat Haney imo.

That being said, he lost to Lopez because lopez is really good, fought a very good fight, and matched up decently well against Loma, attributes and style wise.

This. Absolutely this. Dumb gameplan applies to both fights and robbed mostly to the latter.

    Body shots.
Loma never fixed his issue with body shots, which was exposed already when he fought Salido. Both Lopez and Haney targeted Loma´s body really smartly, which offset a lot of his game and forced him to reset when he did not want to. Loma always relied on rhythm and combination punching, and those were somewhat neutralized with (counter)body shots in both fights. Also, Loma for some reason fought a ridiculously tentative opening 6 rounds against Lopez - it was a horrible gameplan.

That, and Loma got robbed by Haney(and Salido).

As I see it, he only ever really lost to lopez. And lopez was really good and significantly bigger.

When watching it back then I was surprised at his slow first 6 rounds, too. I thought he had to respect lopez' power. But maybe lopez was just too erratic for lomachenko to figure out in the beginning? The second half of the fight he pushed lopez more and more.

All in all I feel loma is way underappreciated for what he did in the pros. Unique style, great wins, mostly against way bigger opposition. To me he is one of the most interesting fighter style and skillwise that I know of. As a viewer I was more challenged than with almost any other fighter to follow what he does in the ring

I’m not disputing his ATG status but he’s not at the very top tier. He won’t be considered a legend.

Slow start against Lopez, robbed on the Haney bout.
Props to Lopez though, he was sharp as **** in those early rounds.

I really dislike the whole "Loma was robbed against Haney" narrative. Go back and look at the RBR for that fight, look at the press scores for the people who were there. Hell, just go back and watch the fight while focusing on Haney's work instead of Loma's to get a fresh persepctive on that fight. The rounds were crazy close and Haney put in an excellent performance against a lethargic Lomachenko who struggled to get a consistent offence going for the most part. Scoring that fight for Devin is well within reason and to argue that it isn't is preposterous. Loma lost because of his mentality. He's an arrogant guy who underestimated both men and overestimated his own ability. He thought he could beat Teo with a messed up should like he did against Linares because he didn't take Teo seriously and he thought he had the Haney fight in the bag because of inconsistent flurries followed by stretches of inactivity, since he was scoring the rounds himself during the fight.

He lost because he wasn't as good as you thought he was. People were making threads saying Loma beats Prime Floyd, Armstrong, Chavez, etc when nothing he actually did on camera suggests he could.

We all know he didn't really lose to Haney not even the people who say they scored it for Haney actually believe that.
He lost a close one to Lopez but it was obvious he was injured which is why he was overly cautious in the beginning.
He was dealing with a massive size disadvantage in both fights but was still able to light them both up at points in the fights.

That's a good take. I think that, in the moment, his assessments for how a fight is going is way too optimistic, which is why he ends up being so surprised with judges decisions.
