In hindsight, relative unknown Wallin had one big night against an overconfident Fury in which he struck gold with a freak cut in the 3rd round and still lost 9-3.

He beat Breazeale 9-3 in 2021, who retired after and hadn't fought in 21 months since being KO'd in 1 by Wilder. And in 2023 he got a 7-5 over a largely inactive Gassiev, whose only wins worth talking about to this day are against cruiserweight titlists/contenders in 2016-2018.

Post-Povetkin Whyte thought Wallin was dangerous enough to duck after the Breazeale win, pulling out 9 days from the fight despite home and A-side advantage. This contributed to the perception that Wallin may have been top 10.

By the time Wallin fought Joshua and 41 year old Chisora he was largely coming for the paydays. He was a former sparring partner of Joshua's, he didn't believe he could win unless Joshua had declined massively. He said he'd considered retirement after the Joshua loss.

He clearly was a few years back, just sneaking into the top 10.

Just looks bad now cause he's been on such horrendous form since.

    Said this 6 years ago

    Said this 4 years ago

Said this 4 years ago as well.

There were a number of people on here who were proclaiming him as a legit top 10 threat and at no point in time did I understand that. He ultimately never proved he could beat anyone in the top 10 and then when he finally got the opportunity to fight top 10-15 opponents, he folded up like a paper airplane...............even against a "walking the green mile" former top 10 fighter. He simply wasn't very elite.

Any news on Otto's next fight? I'm sure his fans are itching to see him back in action.

This guy is Joshua's best win in 6 years btw.

Would a focused Jake Paul be able to defeat Otto Wallin?

He was but his Fury performance in defeat flattered him.

He could never repeat that performance similar to how Kambosos could never repeat his performance vs Lopez.

The question is was he top 10. & he probably sneaked in at 9th or 10th around the times of the wins over Breazeale and Gassiev.

Fringe world class I'd say at that point. Though he's looked poor recently.

I just looked it up. I was right:D

Otto Wallin's ranking from The Ring magazine was number 10 in the heavyweight division as of December 2023

Did you just look it up, or are you the alt of a poster who is on some dumb crusade to prove that a terrible fighter in Wallin was momentarily top 10 when in reality he was never even top 15?

I just looked it up to check, and I never once claimed he was any good. I was only ever impressed with him once, in the the Fury fight which he lost anyway.

I agree with anyone slating his ability, I hate his style of fighting.. boring tippy tappy. I just can remember that time after he beat Gassiev, he was around that 10th mark for a small period, it's factual. Not only did The Ring have him top 10, other credible rankings like the transitional boxing rankings had him top 10 too, and he was very high up with the organisations.

Didn't deserve the rank, 10+ other heavyweights in the world would have smashed Wallin just like ancient gatekeeper Chisora did

There is a reason why everyone in the know in boxing, asks

    What is his best win?

It is because it avoids you judging a noble defeat as some indication of a fighters level.

Wallin's best career win is against a crippled former CW world title challenger in 2023, who last fought at world level in 2018 and since then has just fought bums whilst injured. You really are stretching it to claim Wallin has ever been top 10, and just because he was rated once as 10th does not really prove anything.
