Are you impressed with Devin Haney beating Regis Prograis and Brian Norman Jr

How impressed are you with Haney beating Prograis and Norman Jr to take their titles at his first weight class moving up, especially when he dropped them early as well? Haney gets a lot of hate and he’s still a real chore to watch when he fights but I must admit I think it’s rather impressive that he’s managed to keep proving his doubters wrong time after time. People doubted Haney’s ability to beat Prograis because many thought he should have lost to Lomachenko and he ended up schooling him. Same thing happened going in to the Norman Jr fight where most believe the Ryan Garcia fight damaged him for good but ended up neutralizing Norman Jr.

Haney is a frustratingly boring fighter to watch but you can’t deny that he’s very gifted and skilled fighter who always finds a way to win and is also willing to fight anyone.

Nothing Haney does impresses me. He's a super negative spoiler and a coward. He's a blight on the sport.

His win over prograis was a good performance over a fading but still capable champion Prograis. The Norman win I was *almost* impressed by, but after the knockdown he basically stopped trying to decisively win rounds. Despite dropping and hurting Norman and being evidently a better fighter and never really looking uncomfortable against him, he still seemed to have no real confidence in his offense. So although it's still a good win (this fight was seen as a 50/50 going into it, with Norman being favoured by many) I can't say I left the fight being particularly impressed with him.

While I don't think Haney is "very gifted," I do believe he has an excellent jab, doesn’t make a lot of mistakes, and has a keen understanding of the tactics and approach that work best for him.

The kid's pretty cerebral in there and fights within himself.

Obviously, theres work to be done, but he's slowly building a Hall of Fame type of career.

The performances weren’t necessarily impressive, but him taking on those guys in his debut at the weights was.

On a side note, an actual trainer could do wonders for him. He has more talent than to be just slicker version of Wladimir Klitschko without the power.

I wasn't impressed. He quite literally went for a clinch before even throwing a punch last night. It's a horrible style and it's because he's deathly afraid of even a jab (he got visibly EMOTIONALLY rattled by a fair few jabs last night).

Of the highly criticized slick American featherfist spoilers, it was Shakur who impressed me last outing. He stood in the pocket and showed real skills and grit.

Haney looked like a slightly less terrified version of his now terrified self. I bet he clinched 50 times. He throws some fake shitty body shots in the clinch to act like he's trying to work and isn't the one initiating almost all of them. Lame fighter, even worse style.

Not overly impressed with the Norman win, but he did what he needed to do to win.

Not impressed he is a negative spoiler who is terrified of getting hit. Even when he is clearly better and able to drop guys like Norman and Prograis he is still too scared to go for the finish and as soon as his opponents mount some offense he immediately clinches. He is good at clinching his opponents can't get a hand free. It's as if he spends a lot of time working on clinching in training camp.

Personally, I like Haney. Not a big fan of his boxing style but he isn't the runner Shakur Stevenson is. He's just a bit too cautious. What I love about Haney is that he fights everyone. His resume is littered with all the kinds of big names that Tank Davis never gets in the ring with.

Too bad there currently isn't much for him to fight at 147 because if he goes looking for big paydays at 154 he will find the money but get his head knocked off his shoulders in the process.

somewhat. i knew he had the skills to do it, but he could have impressed me for real if he beat them in a more dramatic fashion. the other headliners, when pushed, made it clear they werent here to play. devin kinda just did what was necessary. didnt put a stamp on it.

Haney has some good wins. He just doesn't have a fan friendly style. Throw in the bad personality and you have a boxer that has a lot of haters.
