Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roberto Duran 140lbs catchweight

Duran at 140 would’ve been an absolute monster — faster, meaner, and still with that insane inside game. Robinson might’ve handled him better at 147 when he was at his physical peak, but if they met at 140, I think Duran’s pressure and strength edge could’ve stolen it.

 

At around 140lbs, Robinson has wins against Angott, Servo and Zivic x2. Better names than Duran has, who seemed to use it as a stay busy weight class. I think Robinson has the natural tools and even by then he clearly had the necessary competition to cover for the inexperience. I think he beats Duran handily.
