Here's a fight I never knew was out there and one I had never seen. A quick check on search of this thread made it clear that no one here has mentioned this bout and we need to take care of this now.

    Roger Mayweather v Livingstone Bramble

    Round 1: 10-9 Bramble
    Round 2: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 3: 10-9 Mayweather
    Round 4: 10-8 Mayweather (scores a knockdown)
Round 5: Bramble's corner stops the bout mid-round due to a severely swelling right eye

Total through 4 completed rounds: 39-36 Mayweather

To begin, this was a terrific study on infighting. These two took turns pot-shotting the other that the crowd loved. It was also a good stoppage by Bramble's corner as Mayweather was really zeroing in on that right eye. But because Janks Morton, Bramble's cornerman, stood on the ring apron on the outside, Bramble incurred a DQ rather than a stoppage. I always felt corners would do something like this so their man would not suffer a KO or TKO loss and I never liked it. Using the rules to soften the blow is BS. But I enjoyed the fight.

This is an interesting fight I hadn’t seen. It has that car-crash quality that you can’t help but gawk at it: Andrew Golota vs Samson Po’uha.

Andrew Golota got two standing-eight counts (I didn’t even know New Jersey had the standing eight) in the third round when Samson bent over at the waist and didn’t defend himself. You could argue it should have been stopped since he was non-combative and non-defensive, but Eddie Cotton started counting both times.

In the fourth, Po’uha surges back to rock and hurt Golota with a series of clean, hard shots. Seems to have Golota within one or two solid shots of a KO.

And what does Andrew do? Goes full Golota, of course. The ref missed it, but in a clinch while hurt he bites Samson on the shoulder. Definitely a deliberate foul and it looks like he’s coming back for seconds a few more times but decides to push the plate away instead of taking another bite.

In the fourth, Golota knocks him down twice (both times Po’uha does the bend over thing but does go down, the first helped by some rabbit punches since the back of his head is all he’s presenting as a target).

It’s early-career proof that Golota’s panic button reflex is to foul whenever he’s distressed. And it is a nice back-and-forth affair that was oddly entertaining.

I remember this fight. It's unfortunate that by the time Golota matured his physical gifts were in their twilight

I’m not sure if we’re talking about maturity so much as being prescribed anti-psychotics, but his reflex to foul whenever distressed (no matter how far ahead in the fight) would make Mysterious Billy Smith blush.

True, whatever it was it just seemed when he was hitting his late thirties he had conquered his fouling demons but his athleticism was going.

First things first: I wanted to see the great Criqui, but there is barely any footage. This is as long as I could find.

Funny enough, the last name Criqui sounds too closely to a vulgar Spanish slang word in the Caribbean used t describe that I sadly could never get due to diabetes: a vulva. LOL.

    Enjoy the fight!

I think Fritzie Zivic, Sandy Saddler and Eusebio Pedroza would also take Andrew Golota to a behavioral school lol...

Their roughhousing was strategic, not panic-driven.

I wouldn’t exclude Willie Pep from that class either … he wasn’t exactly a victim of Saddler so much as a willing participant in the Dark Arts and gave as good as he got (but he didn’t hang in there well when he was getting got).

    Carmen Basilio v Don Jordan

Saw this bout out there and wanted to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised that it was quite the lively bout. I won't run a card here. I only gave Jordan a share of two rounds (the 1st and the 10th) with the rest to Basilio for a 8-0-2 score (actual cards: 8-0-2, 8-2 and a 6-3-1 all for Basilio). But don't let the one-sidedness in the scores detract you. Jordan was in every round and gave a commendable effort. But Carmen just never let up hitting Don with a never ending stream of combos and body shots. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. Not bad for a 33 year old Basilio.

Revisited this bout today because it was out there and so was I so what the hell. Watched it live but never scored it (like it was necessary).

Lennox Lewis v Mike Tyson (Heavyweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Tyson
    Round 2: 10-9 Lewis
    Round 3: 10-10 Even
Round 4: 9-9 Even (Lewis' round but Lennox was docked a point for what appeared to be 'Leaning?')
    Round 5: 10-9 Lewis
    Round 6: 10-9 Lewis
    Round 7: 10-9 Lewis
Round 8: Lewis is awarded a standing 8 on Tyson then proceeds to knock him out.

Total through 7 completed rounds: 68-65 Lewis (actual scores are all 68-64 Lewis)

The announcing team brought up that referee Eddie Cotton was really heavy-handed on Lewis and to tell you the truth, it really looked like it. But if he was doing something under the table, it backfired. Because when he kept separating and threatening to take a point from Lewis, it improved the fight, which could have been a 12 round mauling affair, and set Lewis on the outside spearing Tyson with his left and sharp-shooting with the right, which took its toll on Tyson. Also, taking a point from Lewis in the 4th was bogus. But I enjoyed seeing this again. Would have been fantastic with them both in their primes but you take what you can get.
