Janibek will win, but I want old man Lara to pull out one last trick from his book of Cuban boxing magic.
Janibek still staying at 160 is taking years off his career; he collapsed due to severe dehydration last year, and he is still campaigning at 160 over 12 months later. There are only so many times a fighter can do this before they lose to someone they should beat. Janibek is still an unknown quantity for me because his resume is one of the worst for a world champion in any division. His resume is jam-packed with C-grade punching bags. This is partly down to 160 being so weak, but he doesn't even have an Adams/McKenna/Eubank on his record, even though he would beat them all, I think. A 42-year-old Lara is by far the best 160 Janibek has fought, and he is coming off two pretty solid wins in 2024. This is not going to be the walk in the park people think it is, and it wouldn't surprise me if Janibek loses, or if it's a razor-thin decision either way.
Seeing as how they love to rob so called boring fighters with no fanbase. I dont think Lara gets a fair shake if he does legit win 7-5 or 8-4
