Not a great advert that. I'm always trying to get coworkers/friends into boxing and after telling a lot of people "there's a good fight on BBC" I doubt they'd have enjoyed that.

Gane over for Clarke. Looks like Wardley rearraging his face has put the fear on him.

Ronald McIntosh suffers from the same disease as Mike Costello. He doesn't understand how to commentate on TV. He started by introducing his co commentator George Groves and then spoke in a disjointed manner. It was almost impossible for Groves to get a word in because everything has to be commented. A good commentator takes breaks and includes his co-commentator. Let's hope the BBC replaces him before Boxxer´s next show.

I think he did a terrible job. I would actually prefer Mike Costello to Ronald McIntosh.

Ronald has been a commentator for the BBC across a number of sports for over twenty years. What makes you think there is even the slightest chance he would be replaced, after he done what he has always done for the BBC, last night? He's going nowhere, and he was excellent last night.

You must be humourless. Costello is boring, McIntosh always says very funny things. Isn't sport about entertainment?

There's probably not much chance of that, but that doesn't change my opinion :)

The launch of boxing on the BBC had been months in the planning and the TV viewer would be very disappointed to watch the jelly baby followed by two unfit fatties.

Not a good launch at all or a good look for boxing watching fourth rate garbage.

Must do much better or the audience will disappear quickly.

I think if Clarke had won, people would've said it was a great scrap. It's just not the result people wanted given how popular Clarke is.

Hopefully it settles down and gets into the old Hennessy Channel 5 era where you'd routinely tune in and find a decent scrap. I just wish they'd do the cards outside of Saturday nights to avoid the inevitable noise from QP/Matchroom.

The show production was poor though, no getting away from it. Having that enormous screen and stage for a 10-foot ring walk was just bizarre. IMHO they should just go old school and treat this as purist boxing like the BBC did with darts for 20 years, rather than knock-off Sky shows.

If Dave Allen has any sense he should ask for a fight with TKV he has a very good chance of winning that.
But no doubt he'll let Eddie use him again and end up in with someone like a Zhang and take even more damage.

I’m a bit surprised the fight is getting slated as much as it is online. What did people expect? Two domestic level HWs carrying excess weight. It’s never going to be a classic. I thought the ref aided the spectacle by letting the two fight inside and at least it was a close fight with the outcome up in the air going into the final rounds. TKV very nearly had the stoppage in Rd 11 too. I’ve seen a lot, lot, lot worse domestic HW fights in recent years.

My main criticism is it seemed they didn’t have enough people working. Bunce was on punditry duty but then would run down to interview fighters and Groves would leave the commentary area to go and replace Bunce for 5 minutes. It seemed a bit chaotic. Just get someone else doing the interviews and keep Bunce in the pundit box.

It wasn’t the best start but Simpson v Williamson should be a better spectacle. For one it should be a more entertaining fight and with 5k Barnsley already snapping up tickets it should be a much better atmosphere.

It was an excellent main event that exceeded expectations.

Francesca Hennessy went 10 good rounds and delivered a fine performance.

Bobby Dalton and Joel Kodua gave each other a solid fight.

Jack Massey got unexpectedly tough resistance from Ivan Gabriel Garcia.

Overall, Boxxer's BBC debut was more than acceptable. I agree with a previous thread that production could be improved.
