    How do you guys rank him? Any interesting stories about the man? I have almost zero knowledge of this former champion.

    According to an account of the fight from UPI, the Kid beat the carp out of Bass and send him fishing.

    As for OP’s question, I’m far from an expert on the era but glancing at Boxrec it appears he was stopped just twice in nearly 200 fights, which says a lot for him chin and for Chocolate, who was one of the men who did it.

    Speaking to his style, the UPI account says he wasn’t in Choco’s class as a boxer and described him as a wild-swinging slugger with a heavy punch, but Kid outfought him on the inside when he tried to turn it into a brawl.

    He lost to Petey Sarron a couple of times. Seems the Little Fish was a cut above most of the era until he tried to swim in the big pond.
