Prime David Tua H2H: ¿Overrated, Underrated, or Wasted Talent?

I would say wasted talent because there were times where discipline most certainly held him back. He had great leverage on his punches, and he put those punches together really well. His downfall really was his lack of head movement, which is a must when you had the come forward style he had. This lack of head movement meant against certain boxers he was easy pickings from distance where his defense could of been better. Very good fighter on his day though.

 

He was at his very best at around 230 lbs. He was sluggish above that.
He was 5’10. He had no business weighing 240lbs +

 

He wasn't a wasted talent at all, he fought a lot of good to great fighters and came out with a pretty solid record.

It's hard to say if he was over or underated due to the extremes of his strengths and flaws...in any era he'd beat some good fighters and lose to some others.

 

Correct, with his style, he needed superior conditioning, more than most fighters do.
