FOTC Frazier Vs. Kingston Foreman

Still Foreman. Maybe Frazier manages to land a few more shots but that's it, ends the same way probably in the same round. Never bought the idea that Frazier could've done any better had he been the Frazier of two fights earlier. Would've never been able to deal with the power and bullying tactics of Foreman. Would keep going down and getting back up as usual and the referee would be forced to step in again.

 

George was all wrong for him. Occam's Razor- the explanation that requires the fewest assumptions is ususlly correct.

 

Yes, FOTC Frazier was faster and sharper than the Kingston version, but the crazy thing about that fight is that Foreman's jabs hurt Frazier much more than even Frazier's left hooks hurt Foreman. Have watched the fight countless times, but every time I'm schocked at the discrepancy in how well they can take each other's punches.

This equation would be better for Frazier if he was in top shape, but not probably that much. It reminded me in that sense a bit of Frazier against Foster. Like someone just have stepped up in a class where his power no longer is enough to even deter, much less KO, the opponent, but every punch the other guy throws is lethal. And even for a master boxer with a longer reach that's a challenge to overcome. For a shorter come forward fighter it's nigh impossible IMO.

Agreed. And while Joe Frazier’s pressure and inside fight game was effective against many styles, it would usually prove less so against larger two fisted clubber like Foreman

 

How is he going to pressure Big George when all George is going to do is push him and make him reset whenever he tries to get inside?

I don't care if Joe didn't take him seriously in Kingston, I don't care that Foreman "pushed off" (like he was supposed to just welcome Joe inside to do his thing), George Foreman simply was stylistic kryptonite to Joe Frazier, period, the end, case closed and filed away.

 

Only swarmer I pick to hurt Foreman is Dempsey and maybe Tyson and Marciano, but still they lose.

 

Not trying to be combative here but please tell me what Rocky brings to the table that makes you think he can possibly do better than Joe?
Hes smaller.. slower of both hand and feet..easier to hit. Just dont see why you would mention him.

 

Zaire Foreman probably still wins because Frazier wouldn't be able to implement Alis gameplan which involved taking damage early on and staying upright. Ali is also the perfect guy to get into someones head and sniff when someones rattled. Thats not really Frazier.

Theres little proof Frazier wasn't as good in 1973 as he was in 71. This was an undefeated 29 year old champion. Frazier is someone whose worst however many fights were very plainly against his largest elite opponents. Foreman, Ali, Bugner, Mathis. After Foreman, Bugner and Ali 2 he went right back to easily beating Quarry.

 

Agree with everyone, Joe probably lasts a little longer but gets stopped pretty early.
