AJ in Usyk’s camp

AJ cannot be Tyson Fury. In any timeline. Doesn't have the mental ability or tools to do it. He doesn't even have a punchers chance.

 

Training to beat Fury. If any training team knows the weaknesses of both AJ and Fury and could help one beat the other, it's Usyk's team.

To I'd love to know HOW this happened. Usyk and AJ get to talking at some event, hit it off, become buds, and Usyk is like "You want help beat Belly?"

AJ is only 36. For a heavyweight whose main attribute is size/strength/power and who has always lived clean, 36 ain't all that old. AJ with his flaws fixed and some new tricks could make one more serious run at a title. This could end up real interesting.

As to the video... For humor value, they should have filmed a recreation of the Rocky 3 training montage, with AJ as Rocky and Usyk as Apollo.

 

AJ isn't outboxing Fury. But he's not incapable of winning some rounds on his own. Take away knockdowns, and I'd bet he could win 3-4 rounds. Now throw in the fact that Fury gets knocked down pretty easy these days it seems... I don't think this is unwinnable for AJ at all.

Fury's not getting knocked out, but with knockdowns happening in the right rounds, those 10-8's really help on the cards.

It actually doesn’t matter. The fact that he’s doing this shows something. Maybe he’s limited and there is a bar he can’t cross. But I won’t knock a man’s drive to learn and be better - from a team that beat him twice such that he had a public meltdown. Nah.

 

Usyk is preparing AJ for the Fury fight. If AJ beats Fury, the 3rd fight with AJ will be a huge payday for Usyk.

 

Where Fury is concerned, he's a complete mystery. He has lost his last 2 fights, went life and death with the MMA fighter before that and now with the inactivity, we have no idea what he has left in the tank, one thing is for sure, there has never been a better time for AJ to fight Fury, even with his own fragilities.

 

It all depends how they both turn up - both physically and with what intention.

If Fury turns up fit and aiming to win on points? He was always a pretty difficult fighter to beat on points.

If Fury turns up in mediocre or poor condition, and/or tries to fight "kronk", though? He's much easier to hit, and much easier to outpoint... And much easier to knockdown and/or stop.


Joshua coming in lighter and having trained for points coming up against a mediocre condition kronk Fury might well outpoint him - Fury doesn't hit anything like as hard as Dubois, and he's very open to being hit when he fights that way.


There's numerous different ways you can see it going down... And that's why, even now, it's still an interesting proposition IMHO!

 

Exactly. Imagine a world where Lewis was too stubborn to reach out to Emanuel.

AJ wanting to learn and grow still should be praised.

 

Compare AJ's fight with Ngannou to Fury's fight with Ngannou. Who showed he is the better heavyweight?

 

It's an interesting matchup for sure. The only outcome I cannot see is a knockout. But knockdowns? I wouldn't be at all surprised if both guys get knocked down at least once.

 

That shows who the harder hitting heavyweight is, and nobody is disputing it's AJ. And Fury was out of shape and untrained; look at the Fury who fought Usyk the first time. That guy was damn good and would have won every round against Ngannou.

 

AJ did way better against Francis...so what? Doesn't change the fact Fury will toy with him for fun.

 

Joshua also did better against Wallin and Johnson. Belly has avoided Joshua for a reason, the big oaf is going to get knocked out.
