Yeah that really pissed me off that Peter Badel is smug dork who doesn't know **** about boxing and Zerafa is kidding himself I reckon Zerafa v Velazquez would be a 50/50 fight. Badel saying Tim should've stopped him, well first of all he is coming off a brutal loss and was right to be cautious and second it's not easy to KO somebody who was being as negative as Velazquez was he obviously respected Tim's power which made him hesitant to engage. Tszyu pitched a shut out he got some confidence back against and undefeated fighter all things considered I say it was a good performance.

 

Tim may not be traditionally a one punch KO artist but most of his opponents look like they have been through a meat grinder after the fight.

 

They were a bit harsh for sure. Tszyu played it a bit safe, but overall he boxed smart and did what he needed to do. If Zerafa had been in there he probably wouldn't have taken some of the punches Velazquez tanked very well who is if nothing else is tough and durable. Still a long way back to title contention though, but it went according to plan on the night.

 

When you've got Jonathan Brown on the panel then you know it's an absolute joke. Great Aussie rules footballer in his day but really? FFS!

 

Just finished watching fight. I like what I saw. He was working the body and getting much needed ring work against guy with what seemed like a solid chin. Last thing Tim needed was early rnd KO. I hope he works more on body punches. Like to see more hooks.

 

The irony of it, these same clowns before the fight said he needs to not be arrogant trying to come out and just swing and eat punches and to box smart.
Tim goes and does exactly that with selective punches and then say he should of went the KO with guns blazing. Idiots.
Velazquez has a hell of a chin. He was hit with shots that Tim has previously put other fighters down with.

 

It was a pass mark but he's not going to survive against the elite level again.

 

Tim is a fringe top 10 guy in a pretty weak 154 division, obviously a level or two above the likes of Velazquez, but worryingly lacking at the elite level. That Bakhram fight was so one-sided that I started to feel sick towards the end, and then he got outclassed by Fundora in every single department.

Zayas, Ortiz, Boots, Madrimov, and even an ancient Thurman would beat him by brutal stoppage. That doesn't mean he can't make money by playing it safe and fighting these types of opponents in Aus, though, but they need to be more selective. He gets badly hurt if they throw him in against the wrong opponent and he has no business at world level anymore.

 

At 31 years old he is what he is. He has a decent gas tank and decent power. If he just work on grinding down opponent instead of looking for that one punch home run he could still make a decent run.

There were times in this fight where he went for that KO punch and got countered bad. He doesn’t need to. Just continue to land punches. The stoppage will come or you cruise to an easy decision.
