If i had to do it, i would let paul spar against actual heavies to get a feel for the power. I would let paul spar against AJ a lot so they get to know each other's style and learn to make paul look good. Then it should be easy to rehearse a second round tko loss. That would be a great achievement for Paul and fine for aj

 

For me, its a no brainer to take this fight. If AJ had been talking like he wanted a top heavyweight contender next then all of a sudden announced Jake Paul then by all means, i would see the point behind any uproar. The situation is he was having a run out against a lesser opponent, a mismatch if you want to call it that, somebody he could just ice out in a round or 2. The only difference here is its bigger than your usual run out publicity wise and the payday for the run out is of a mega fight.

The man was having a 8-10 round run out regardless, why not do it against someone for 50x the money. Now if AJ doesnt Ice Jake Paul stiff as a ironing board then this is a totally different conversation.

If Jake Paul wasnt the internet sensation that he is, he was just a 12-1 unknown cruiserweight/heavyweight and AJ chose him as the quickfire run out, this wouldnt be a issue for anybody. The issue people have is the fact its massive publicly and hes getting paid a fortune for it.

Any chance any professional combat athlete has a chance to make a bucket load of money and the health risk is minimal, im all for them taking that option, especially someone whos paid their dues in the ring like AJ, regardless if hes got hundreds of millions already.

The benefits of AJ starching Jake Paul for a viral KO massively revive the casual public interest in AJ vs Fury. $50m payday for promotional content for the potential mega fight. NO BRAINER.

 

I think its more infuriating how rarely AJ fights.

Although I do get why he would fight Jake Paul over Chaney.

 

5 bouts in like a 17 month period until he got sausaged by DDD, not a bad run of activity in my opinion, 5 seems about the average for a top 10 heavyweight.

Since the turn of 2023 up till today which will put him at 6 bouts from 2023-2025.

Fury - 3 Bouts
Wardley - 6 Bouts
Dubois - 5 Bouts
Parker - 6 Bouts
Hrgovic - 5 Bouts
Bakole - 5 Bouts
Wilder - 3 Bouts
Zhang - 5 Bouts
Kabayel - 4 Bouts

At least hes got the excuse that he took a year break because he got bounced on his head at Wembley, some of the other top 10s are just straight up inactive and avoiding other contenders. Before that, i feel he was also a fairly active champion, sure he was making at least 2 defences a year since winning the belt off Martin.

The worst thing about this act of cowardice is the fact he's a SHW and Paul isn't even a real cruiser.
He ducked the Dubious rematch to do this and his fans actually defend him.

The only thing to support here is a Paul KO win. There's still a tiny chance of it, he hits as hard as Ruiz at least and is fast. AJ might underestimate him enough to drop his hands and get hit on the button. Another lucky stroke could be an injury to AJ in the ring. Groves popped his shoulder versus Eubank. Haye did his achilles against bellew. Maybe even a freak cut.

As for AJ's 'activity', just listen to it. Post Usyk until the Dubious fight he ducked Wilder the whole time to fight knock-overs, the biggest test being Wallin a featherfist ex sparring partner. He also ducked the other real contenders at that time.
Or are we know going to claim Wilder/Zhang/Kebabyal/Filip/Parker weren't active in this period?

 

Personally, It's a lose-win situation for Paul.

He badly loses the fight, but wins by getting some serious reality & sense severely knocked into him.



He won't ever fight at this level again.

 

People defending AJ and giving him a pass for this **** don't make any sense.

 

Way to spin the narrative.

He lost to Usyk. Started his comeback trail after back to back losses against a guy Dillian Whyte struggled with in Franklin making him a credible rebuild opponent. Then signed to fight Dillian Whyte in the summer till he popped and had to get Helenius in on short notice. Took a fight with Wallin, who people were actually saying would cause a heep of problems for AJ coming off his career best win over Gassiev. The same night Wilder ruined the AJ Wilder announcement by getting bopped about by Parker otherwise we would have had AJ vs Wilder next since both parties confirmed they signed.

Moved onto Ngannou who all of a sudden became a contender after beating on and dropping Fury 6 months earlier, again in a bout where clueless fans were saying Ngannou KO. Then signed up to fight the winner of Hrgovic Dubois for the IBF belt.

You gave 5 names. When did you want him to fight Zhang, Parker, Kabayel? Im very interested to know. As for Hrgovic, he was all ready for Hrgovic, majority of us thought it would be Hrgovic instead of Dubois until he lost. He had signed to fight Wilder, Wilder screwed that up.

The 2 biggest rivals of his from their time together at the head of the pack, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, shall we judge their activity after back to back losses or does that not fit the narrative.

 

Jake Paul probably a 168 pound fighter if he cut properly .

If I were Usyk, I would take a dive against Paul for $300M and give away all my belts. I wouldn't care about legacy or my fans. You can buy at least 600 apartments in luxurious neighborhoods with that kind of money.
