Well we just saw the same with Jake Paul vs Tyson and there were no repercussions. There was clearly an agreement for there to be no KO and a lot of people lost their ass on the under.

 

When that up jab starts backing femi up and the hooks start chopping him down on the ropes you will eat your words friend…

 

They risk their lives, get brain damage and shorten their lifespan in this business. They deserve big money and wealth in the end of their careers.

 

Only AJ could have a 3 fight run of:

Ngannou - total mismatch
Dubois - completely outclassed from start to finish
Jake Paul - total mismatch

and be hailed as the “savior of boxing”, by the same people who called Tank Davis a joke for signing for the Jake Paul fight.

His fans are completely delusional and hypocritical. Usyk took his soul, Joshua has found his level with MMA fighters and YouTubers. AJ is not a serious fighter anymore.

 

Completely entitled to your opinion and thanks for actually giving valid points with reasoning unlike most people tend to do on here. However to counter a few things.

The number 1 thing is, they are prizefighters. This isnt like he was WBC Champion for example and instead of defending it against a valid contender he decided to entertain a boxing novice instead. As i said earlier, if Jake Paul wasnt the internet sensation he is, nobody would bat a eyelid to this run out against a unknown 12-1 and when he starches him we would all just move on from it, its the sheer publicity of this thats got people raging. Yes they would question the opponent regardless but it would be defended with, its simply a run out.
For me Anthony Joshuas been a great ambassador of the sport and especially for British Boxing. My opinion doesnt change on that.
Ive got no doubt after this, hes in against a Top 15-20 Heavyweight in Feb/March before taking on Fury or another contender.

People are mistaking this fight as a megafight. "Whys he fighting Jake Paul when he could go and make this much money against another top heavyweight contender instead but hes choosing Jake Paul". He doesnt want a megafight, thats not what this is, he doesnt want a competitive fight, he just wants to return to the ring and ice somebody, thats where people are being confused. This fight is so mainstream that people think hes selling out when infact hes literally just having a very high profiled run out and its being taken as AJs selling out.

AJ didnt seek this fight out, its not like he was campaigning to fight Jake Paul. The guys been inactive for over a year, ive got no problem with him taking this. Completely different story if he was active, on a current run, and sold out for a payday vs Jake Paul whilst being in contention for a World Title Shot. The timing of it fits in with his plans, hes doesnt have to adjust the plans him and Hearn announced before this. All that has happened is his return run out bout is against Jake Paul for 50x the cash instead of Chaney, who lets be honest, would most likely receive the same fate Jake Paul will anyway.

Theres alot more than just money that comes with this fight, the publicity of this fight is massive for his reputation to the main market, the casual audience. He was splattered across the ring just over 12 months ago, heavily, hes getting on in age now 36/37. To those who obviously understand, this proves absolutely nothing to us when he buries Jake Paul 6 feet deep inside the first 2 minutes, but to the casual viewer they will see a live execution and think hes a killer again. Look what the Ngannou fight did for him even though that outcome was the only logical outcome for anyone with a brain for the sport. We had crazy people saying hes the best heavyweight on the planet again.

As you say, the whole Jake Paul journey and spectacle is a circus, if anything, Joshua is doing a service and ending it. He shut down the whole Ngannou to boxing situation, allow him to end this pantomine in devastating fashion.

The only bad outcome here is if the impossible happened and Jake Paul won. Every other box is ticked.

The legacy and resume of Anthony Joshua doesnt change one bit whether he took this fight or not, all that changes is theres a bigger chunk in his bank account and the comeback name on his record says Jake Paul instead of some other unknown boxer. Whatever boxer he chose to face for this fight was always going to be drastically nowhere near his level.

 

As he should have, thats exactly what should happen when a non boxer trys to throw down with a genuine elite level boxer. When i see somebody take shin bone to nose bone and not budge, or get cracked by some heavy hands in 4oz gloves over a decade long MMA career and they dont budge, im not questioning their chin, ever.

Ngannou got slept by a juggernaut of a man who hits like a train throwing leather in a way his mind is not accustomed to, thats what slept him.

 

Ngannou has no Chin. None.

 

I mean, obviously, he's not the biggest fraud in boxing. I think he is \ was a very good HW who has had a very good career - and he often gets unfair levels of stick.
That said, I am of the opinion this Jake Paul fight is a bit of a farce and, even if he wins via first round KO, AJ's credibility has been damaged simply by taking part in it.

There wasnt any agreement... Jake Paul knew he would be looked at as a piece of crap for running though a 60 year old pothead version of a Beloved champion from 40 years ago and held back and carried him to a UD.

Jake Paul is a delusional idiot and has made claims that he is the most athletic fighter in the sport... made claims that he would beat Canelo, Arthur Beterbiev and Andre Ward. He claims he has the skills of Usyk.. his idiot fans believe his hype.. He was beating up guys half his size and even humiliated the corpse of Mike Tyson. This is a must and I'm going to enjoy him get played out.

Sorry but I just found out jake paul has been preparing for this fight by sparring Lawrence okolie in the run up...how does having involuntary sex with a mansquid in sparring prepare you for Joshua??

 

I just can't take this fight seriously. I still think it's a complete cash grab and will be a scripted exhibition.

Think about it. Paul is the Golden Goose. His fights make so much money that he can literally choose anyone to fight and they all accept. Why would a multi millionaire like him risk a fight with a former Heavyweight World Champion just slightly past his best.

My guess is that the agreement is :

Joshua can win the fight but can't KO Paul. He can say he got the win and it's hard to KO someone refusing to engage.

Paul gets to say he went the distance with a world class former heavyweight world champion still in his ''prime''.

Both laugh into the sunset with their millions afterwards.

I've had 2 main bets on this.

Joshua to win via decision at 7/1
Fight to go the distance at 9/2

A small stake on the draw at 50/1 also
